Noun conjunction is a very common language phenomenon in Chinese, but there is no research on it in ancient Chinese, especially in ancient Chinese classic books.Zhuangzi is a classic literature of Chinese in the pre-Qin Dynasty, which has important research value in language and thought, and there are a lot of noun conjunction structure.Based on the previous research,we sort out, sums up and count the noun conjunction in Zhuangzi, describes its characteristics,in order to find out the feature of noun conjunction in the pre-Qin Dynasty. The full text contains seven parts. The introduction first defines the research object of this paper, and points out that noun conjunction is a linguistic phenomenon that is directly connected by two or more nouns;then introduces the research status of the Zhuangzi and noun conjunction, and explains the significance of topic selection and research methods of this paper. The first to the fifth chapter are the main part of the article,as described next. The first chapter is an overview of noun conjunction. This chapter first distinguishes the concepts of the different categories of conjunction, makes clear that noun conjunction is a classification of the conjunction which use the same part of speech. Then give a definition and semantic classification of“noun”in Zhuangzi's noun conjunction,to make the groundwork for the following research. The nouns in Zhuangzi are divided into animal and plant nouns, human nouns, body nouns, and so on.The second chapter is about the structural types and grammatical functions of noun conjunction in Zhuangzi. In terms of the structural types, noun conjunction consist of phonetic structure, hierarchical structure and grammatical structure.Among them, phonetic structure is divided into monosyllabic noun combination, disyllabic noun combination and polysyllabic noun combination;hierarchical structure is divided into single-layer structure and double-layer structure;grammatical structure includes coordinate structure, attribute head structure,verb-object structure, appositive structure and overlapping structure. In terms of grammatical function, noun conjunction can be used as subject, object, attribute, predicate and adverbial in sentences. The third chapter is about the relationship of semantic of noun conjunction in Zhuangzi. There is a deep semantic relationship between the nouns that make up the conjunction of nouns. This chapter classifies and analyzes it.The semantic relationship of coordinate noun conjunction structure can be divided into similar attributes, which have three types:general, synonymy and antonymy, and different attributes. The semantic relationship of attribute head structure can be divided into eight types:possessive relationship, location relationship, and so on.The fourth chapter is the analysis of the conceptual composition of noun conjunction in Zhuangzi. This chapter first introduces the theory of Conceptual Blending Theory and its application in Chinese studies. Then, based on this theory, analyse the conceptual composition of noun conjunction, which give rise to metaphor and metonymy in sentences, and explains its interpretation process. The fifth chapter is the semantic comparison between noun conjunction in Zhuangzi and compound("NN")of modern Chinese.Synchronically, the noun conjunction structure has three forms in Zhuangzi:phrase, compound and their intermediate state.Diachronically, some of the noun conjunctions developed into compound in modern Chinese, accompanied by semantic changes. The main content is to reviews this changes, analyze the lexicalization process of noun conjunction, and summarize the ways and rules of lexicalization of noun conjunction. The conclusion part is a general summary of the study of noun conjunction in Zhuangzi.
