Research On Jade Birds In Shang And Zhou Dynasties

Jade Bird is a kind of unique jade ware in Shang and Zhou dynasties.This paper mainly focuses on the unearthed jade birds in archaeology,supplemented by museum collections.According to the chronological order,taking specific sites and tombs as a unit,this paper combs the discovery of jade birds in Shang and Zhou dynasties.Through the collation and analysis of the data,this paper discusses its classification,modeling characteristics,development and evolution,functions and modeling sources.This paper can be divided into three parts,including introduction,text and conclusion.The text includes three chapters.In the introduction part,the research object and time category are defined,the research status is combed,and the background and significance of the topic are described.In the first chapter of the main body,the Unearthed Jade Bird materials are divided into two periods: Shang Dynasty and Western Zhou Dynasty.The location,scale,location,quantity,age and owner of the Unearthed Jade Bird sites(tombs)are analyzed.In the second chapter,the jade birds in Shang and Zhou dynasties are divided into two types: round carving and flat flaky carving,and then they are distinguished according to the top and side view images,respectively discussing the modeling characteristics and types of jade birds in this period.Focus on the characteristics of each part of the Jade Bird,and discuss the eye,crown,tail,beak and decoration of the jade bird.According to the evolution of modeling characteristics,the evolution law of Jade Bird modeling from late Shang Dynasty to Western Zhou Dynasty is deduced.The third chapter discusses two contents,one is the function of jade bird,the other is the source of Jade Bird modeling in Shang and Zhou dynasties.The jade bird in Shang and Zhou dynasties could be used as a practical tool,decoration and burial jade.The speculation about the use of jade bird also involves that a certain kind of jade bird may be the totem image of merchants or Zhou people,because there are such legends of Archaeopteryx in Shang and Zhou dynasties.It is possible that the parties concerned may make the totem into a jade pendant to be used in ritual activities,or wear it as a symbol of a person with a special identity.For the exploration of the source of Jade Bird image,this part mainly selects several representative types of jade birds,and the jade parrot,round Carved Jade Owl in Fuhao Tomb of Yin Ruins and flake Jade Bird of Western Zhou Dynasty as examples to explore the source of Jade Bird modeling,and infers the source of some modeling characteristics by analogy with the shape of birds in nature.The conclusion makes a summary and induction of the full text,which problems have been solved,which problems have been put forward but not solved,and the shortcomings in the research.
