A Study On The Decorative Styles Of Animals In The Mogao Grottoes During The Southern And Northern Dynasties

Dunhuang is an important transportation hub on the ancient Silk Road.The economic and cultural exchanges between China and the West promote the Mogao Grottoes to create a variety of animal patterns,which is an indispensable part of the art of Mogao Grottoes.Due to the influence of the art and culture of the countries along the Silk Road opened up in the Han Dynasty,the art and culture of the Central Plains in the Qin,Han,Wei,Jin and southern and Northern Dynasties,the Buddhism in the Central Plains and the western regions,and the interpretation of Buddhism,Buddhism and Taoism in the southern and Northern Dynasties,the animal patterns of Mogao Grottoes with the characteristics of the western regions and the Central Plains and the unique style of the southern and Northern Dynasties were produced.It also has an impact on the style of animal patterns in Sui,Tang,Five Dynasties,song and Yuan Dynasties,and has an enlightening effect on modern design.This paper takes the animal patterns of Mogao Grottoes in the northern and Southern Dynasties as the research object,based on the comprehensive arrangement of the animal patterns of Mogao Grottoes in the northern and Southern Dynasties,analyzes the artistic style characteristics of the western regions and the Central Plains,and combines it with modern design,and applies it to the design of modern cultural creative products.First of all,to understand the research status related to animal patterns in Mogao Grottoes,and to sort out and formulate the research plan;Secondly,the paper sorts out and summarizes the animal patterns in the northern and Southern Dynasties of Mogao Grottoes,explores the main sources of the style characteristics of these animal patterns,and analyzes the influence of western regions’ art and culture,such as Central Plains,Central Asia and Western Asia,as well as Buddhism on the style characteristics of these animal patterns;It points out its influence on the style characteristics of animal patterns in Sui,Tang,Five Dynasties,song and Yuan Dynasties;Finally,explore its practical significance in the present,excavate its application value in modern cultural and creative design,and promote the inheritance and development of Dunhuang culture and art.Based on the research of animal patterns in the northern and Southern Dynasties,this paper expands the research of animal patterns in the northern and Southern Dynasties of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes to improve the understanding of Dunhuang Art and culture.Through the analysis and summary of the style characteristics of animal patterns,the design ideas of modern design are inspired,and the expansion and practice of animal patterns in cultural and creative design are realized on the basis of integration and innovation of modern design.
