Approximate number competence as a "number sense" to guide the decisions in people's lives, the study of basic intuition number related to mathematical difficulties intervention,a variety of domains such as child development training, decision making. In the past the relationship exploring between the approximate number competence and decision-making focuses on risk decision, found that the approximate number competence can adjust calculation ability and be able to execute on the role of risk decision-making.Since risk decision-making and intertemporal decision-making are very similar, they all follow the route of discount model to the non-discount model, and the numbers of the intertemporal decision require decision information input process, processing digital number is on the premise of characterization.Based on this, this study explores the effect of approximate number competence on intertemporal decision making.According to the theory of construal level, the amount of decision option amount is an abstract representation of high construal level. The construal level can focus the decision problem on the amount of money. Therefore, the construal level was taken as a possible moderating variable to explore the moderating effect of construal level on the relationship between approximate quantity competence and intertemporal decision making. In experiment 1,participants with high and low approximate number competence were used to measure their approximate number ability. In experiment 1,participants with high and low approximate number competence were used to evaluate their preference for short-term small reward and long-term large reward in intertemporal decision making. In Experiment 2,we introduced the construal level variable and successfully primed the construal level thinking pattern through the global and local visual processing priming effects at the perceptual level and the "why" and "how" priming effects at the conceptual thinking level. The effects of approximate number competence on intertemporal decision making were investigated at different construal levels.Through this study, the following conclusions are drawn: 1.Individuals with different approximate number competence have significant differences in intertemporal selection. Those with low approximate number competence tend to choose short-term small rewards, while those with high approximate number competence tend to choose long-term large rewards.2.The construal level played a moderating role in the effect of approximate number ability on intertemporal decision making. The difference between high approximate number ability and low approximate number ability was more significant under the abstract construal level thinking pattern, and the high approximate number ability preferred to choose long-term big reward.
