This paper mainly takes brick carving of musical performers in Beizhen Twin Towers as the research object,the research method proposed : Historical document textual research and analysis method;Field inveestigation and music image learning method;Comparative study and so on.This paper intends to explore the cultural features of Buddhist music and dance in Liao Dynasty,and then to summarize the inheritance and exchange of Buddhist music and dance since Tang Dynasty and Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms.The full text mainly consists of the following four parts:The first chapter,briefly summarizes the history of the Khitan(Liao),The Development of Buddhism and buddhist music and dance in Liao Dynasty.Then it expounds and compares the history,architectural structure and brick carving of musical performers in Beizhen.In the second chapter,the 26 pieces of the brick carving of music performers in Beizhen West Tower and East Tower are explained in detail,as well as the shapes and styles of the instruments they hold.The paper focuses on the evolution of the shape and structure of "pipa" in the Period of the Khitan(Liao),the way of holding the pipa,the way of playing it and the development,so as to see the Inheritance and development of the Khitan(Liao)on the Pipa in the Sui and Tang Dynasties.In the third chapter,explains in detail the top and outside the pot door brick carving of dancers in Beizhen West Tower and East Tower.By combining with other dance images such as the brick carving of dance and tomb frescoes of Liao Dynasty and Dunhuang frescoes,this paper makes a comparative study with the dance forms of Tang and Song Dynasties,so as to find out the characteristics of Buddhism dance styles in the late Liao Dynasty.The last chapter raised above argument to the height of culture theory,and carries on the multicultural characteristics of brick carving of musical performers in Beizhen Twin Towers.By comparing the brick carving of musical performers in Beizhen twin towers with the Chinese and Western Buddhist music and dances and the Liao Dynasty music and dances,the similarities and differences are sought;and the East Tower on the "Eagles hunt swans" related music images and then the Khitan(Liao)real music life linked to explore the relationship between musical cultures.Expect this article can be as the Khitan(Liao)Buddhism music and dance culture research provides new train of thought.
