The Influence Of The New British Sculpture Movement On Chinese Contemporary Sculpture

With the increase of New British Sculpture artists' exhibitions in China in recent years,more and more people began to pay attention to this group of sculptors.As one of the most famous groups of sculpture artists in the UK in the 1980 s,the New British Sculpture Movement has outstanding artistic expression in the choice of "material",the expression of "body" and the construction of "space".Based on the important works of sculptors represented by the New British Sculpture,this paper adopts the cross-cultural research method,bases on the two perspectives of China and the West,and combs out the artistic development of sculptors by analyzing the creation techniques,style characteristics and ideological expression of their works,which plays a positive role in the study of the New British Sculpture.Chinese contemporary sculpture originated in the late 1970 s.At that time,a large number of western sculptors,such as the British sculptor Henry Moore and the Swiss sculptor Giacometti,introduced their artistic works and creation ideas to China and exerted a great influence on Chinese sculpture and artists.With the increasingly frequent exchanges in politics,economy and culture between China and Britain,the influence of the language and style of British sculpture on Chinese sculpture is gradually deepening.In the context of different social and cultural background,the analysis of the new British sculpture movement on behalf of the artist's influence on Chinese contemporary sculpture artists,to reflect on the problems existing in the process of development of Chinese contemporary sculpture and looking forward to the future direction of Chinese contemporary sculpture art,it for promoting Chinese contemporary sculpture artists in Chinese native culture roots to create more contemporary sculpture works of art with Chinese characteristics,to promote the benign development of Chinese contemporary sculpture art has the reality significance and value.
