The Application Of Surround Sound Recording Technology In The Field Recording Of Zambian Folk Music

This research is a study of The Application of 5.1 Surround Sound Recording Technology on Zambian Folk Music Field Recording.The first chapter is an analysis of the origin of Zambian traditional music and the Music Performance characteristics in order to define the Zambian Traditional Music.Then an analysis of instrument acoustics is done based on Djembe drums as well as the mixing of western musical instruments into the traditional music.It is important to note that this is an example that can be applied to many other Zambian traditional musical instruments.The second chapter is an outline of the recording project design.Project design is divided into four parts,beginning with format design then space design,microphone selection and microphone system design.Chapter three is the final chapter and it outlines the post-production procedures which fall into three parts;audio file processing,musical processing and sound field processing.
