A Study On Surround Music Recording Techniques Based On 5.1 Channel Playback System

A Study on Surround Music Recording Techniques based on 5.1 Channel Playback System is my dissertation applying for the Musicology Master's Degree. Compared with relatively mature Techniques for Conventional 2 Channel Stereophonic Recordings, great efforts should be made to research the theories and experimentations for surround music reproduction, which will be used to meet the increasing needs for people's artistic point of view. As the basic and commonly used surround sound format, the study based on 5.1 Channel Playback System will be highly representative.The dissertation proceeded with the characteristics and significations of 5.1 Channel Surround Music Playback System from both objective acoustics and subjective aesthetics, discussing and researching the theories, recording techniques and designing ideas for surround music reproduction. And then put the theories and conclusions in to experimental practice to make confirmation. All of those researches would make a certain amount of contribution to Chinese domestic pro audio domain on surround sound. This dissertation reviews the corresponding relationship between playback system and recording techniques, and points out the application and designing ideas for surround music reproduction, indicating the precise attitude for music engineering.
