| Weed is the product of Lu Xun’s contemplation, examination and even torture of his self-existence and its way of existence under the curtain of symbolism. In this sense,Weed is a collection of symbolic prose poems. However, how is symbolism embodied in Wild Grass?Or,what are the salient features of symbolism in Wild Grass? For this problem, many researchers use ready-made general concepts such as suggestion, symbol or metaphor, and even Baudelaire’s concept of "harmony" to interpret Weeds. Not only can they not enter Weeds, but their symbolism also becomes specious(applying Weeds to some ready-made concepts is somewhat problematic). In view of this, this paper returns to the specific text of Weeds, and tries to answer what symbolism is in Weeds by reading the text closely, that is,by interpreting the words, lines and festivals in the text.On the basis of this text analysis,I found that symbolism in Wild Grass has several basic characteristics, such as polysemy, hierarchy, integrity and philosophy. This is a study of Wild Grass from the perspective of symbolism, which reveals some of its unique characteristics.Of course,as a manifestation of symbolism,it embodies some commonness of symbolism in the world, and is the creative development made by Lu Xun after being influenced by western symbolism, that is,a unique and Luxun-style symbolism. |
