"Writing Shapes With Shapes" - Wang Zhaomin's Watercolor Still Life Modeling Research

Wang Zhaomin is a celebrated watercolor painter in our country who advocates the artistic idea of "writing form with form",that is,in plastic arts,we should "write form with form","have both form and spirit,and write form with spirit".Over the years,he has been dedicated to the watercolor still-life sketching,whose painting style is calm,simple,thick and elegant with not only inherits the characteristics of profound artistic conception in traditional Chinese painting,but also draws the scientific expression of western painting,explore the form language of watercolor painting with Oriental characteristics,showing a thick,simple artistic charm.Wang Zhaomin paying attention to understanding modern consciousness and Chinese traditional culture,bold reform and innovation,integrating his spiritual cultivation into the creation of watercolor painting,showing his deep pursuit of painting art,has had a far-reaching impact on the development of contemporary Chinese watercolor painting.This thesis takes Wang Zhaomin's artistic concept of “writing form of form” as the viewpoint to study the modeling of his watercolor still life paintings.The first chapter is to analyze the influence of family enlightenment and artistic environment and Cezanne's painting form language on him,and to sort out the reasons for the formation of Wang Zhaomin watercolor still life painting.The second chapter is to dig deeply into the modeling characteristics of his still-life painting,analyze the thinking of " writing form with form ",and further analyze the composition and modeling characteristics of his still-life painting.The third chapter discusses the influence of Wang Zhaomin on his creation,which makes me realize how to combine the research and understanding with the practice of graduation creation,and create individualized paintings.
