An Excerpt From The Dell Technologies Inc Annual Report (2021) English-Chinese Translation Practice Report

The practice report draws on the annual report issued by Dell Technologies Inc in its 2021 fiscal year,and the business and risk section of this annual report has been chosen by writer as the research material,which covers information in many fields such as technology,finance,law and so on.As the business application style with its own text style,corporate annual report plays an important role in the transmission of corporate value and information sharing between enterprises.According to Eugene Nida,the translator introduces process system into the translator’s thinking mode in translation practice.Specifically,the translating process of this report can be summarized in three stages: analyze（the verification of unfamiliar information）,transfer（the dissection of the text meaning and logic）,restructure（the reconstruction of the target language structure）.It is proved by translation practice that the combination of macro strategies and micro techniques will make translation more effective.In particular,the translator’s thinking mode as a macro translation orientation,which focuses on the whole text.Combined with examples,this paper explores the EnglishChinese translation methods and skills of annual reports,in the hope of providing some reference and inspiration for the future translation research of corporate annual reports.
