Xiong Penglai(1246-1323),he is called Yuke,was born into a wealthy family in Yuzhang,so he was able to devote himself to academia for a long time.He was not only proficient in Confucianism and rhythm,but also knew astronomy and geography.After the fall of the Song Dynasty,Xiong Penglai came to live in seclusion in the countryside and wrote the book Gusser Music Scores(《瑟谱》)in order to restore the orthodox elegant music.With the broadening of the research perspective of the Book of Songs,great progress has been made in the exploration of the musicality of the Book of Songs,and Gusser Music Scores has gradually attracted the attention of academic circles.However,the current research on Gusser Music Scores mainly focuses on the archaeology of musical rhythm and ancient melody.The musical value of Gusser Music Scores has been affirmed,and there is still room for expansion in literature and even classical philology.By sorting out Xiong Penglai’s life experience and friendship,and combining with the background of Gusser Music Scores,this paper analyzes the purpose of Xiong Penglai’s writing Gusser Music Scores under the background of the Song Dynasty music retro trend of thought as the mainstream,and his thoughts What is the idea to convey.According to the principles of "benefiting the body and mind" and "being useful for learning",Gusser Music Scores selects twenty chapters of the Book of Songs for its score.In the annotation of the spectrum of the Book of Songs,"Take the ancients as teachers",abide by the doctrine of the sage Zhu Zi,and use the method of Xie Yin to phoneticize.In the annotations,the rules of etiquette and music are used,and the chapters involved in the the Book of Songs score are explained one by one in terms of music occasions and other standards.The unique way of writing a book provides valuable the Book of Songs literature materials for the study of the Book of Songs in the Yuan Dynasty.In the selection of palace tune in Gusser Music Scores,the palace tune is determined for each poem from two aspects: "because of its physical properties" and "from its lunar rhythm".It not only considers poetry but also follows the development logic of music itself.Xiong Penglai’s series of theoretical propositions about the se instrument are also revealed in Gusser Music Scores.Then it sorts out Xiong Penglai’s thoughts on seism,explores the theory on which Xiong Penglai developed Gusser and elucidates Gusher’s principles,and discovers the cultural connotation behind Xiong Penglai’s propaganda of "Seism".Finally,it discusses the academic value of Gusser Music Scores,which lies in the compilation and preservation of the ancient musical scores of the Book of Songs,the inheritance of ritual and music civilization,and its contribution to the archaeology of musical compositions and the academic value of enriching the research on the Book of Songs in the Yuan Dynasty.The research and discussion of Gusser Music Scores also provides necessary documentary support for the contemporary song the Book of Songs activities.
