Anger is a basic human emotion.Although it can protect itself to a certain extent,it is often accompanied by many negative effects. This article proposes the strategy of“joy counteracts anger” based on the treatment of anger emotional diseases in traditional Chinese medical records. In a laboratory setting, healthy people are used as subjects, three experimental designs were launched to regulate anger, and to compare its differences with cognitive reappraisal in terms of the adjustment effect and the choice of adjustment strategies.(1)The purpose of the first experiment was to verify the effectiveness of the joy counteracts anger strategy, using the article mutual evaluation paradigm to induce the participants' anger, and compare the effects of the strategies of sadness counteracts anger and joy counteracts anger on subjective emotional experience(subjective anger, positive and negative emotional levels)and level of aggression. At the same time,a neutral control group was set up and a total of 89 valid copies were collected,31 males and 58 females. This shows that the joy counteracts anger is an effective emotion regulation strategy.Joy can effectively reduce the individual's subjective feelings of anger and aggressive behavior, and increase the level of positive emotions;while sadness can only improve anger-related aggressive behavior and enhance negative emotion level.(2)The purpose of the second experiment is to compare the adjustment effects of the joy counteracts anger and the cognitive reappraisal, and analyze the effects of different adjustment strategies on the subjective experience of anger(subjective anger, positive and negative emotion levels)and physiological responses(respiration, heart rate, skin electricity, skin temperature). The method of inducing anger is different from Experiment 1.Participants need to induce anger through the free recall task.In the end,71 valid data were collected, including 23 males and 48 females. This indicates that both the joy counteracts anger and the cognitive reappraisal can effectively alleviate the emotional experience of anger, but the cognitive reappraisal strategy is more adaptable to the improvement of cardiovascular and other physiological activities stimulated by anger.(3)The main purpose of the third experiment is to explore the subjects' preference for joy counteracts anger and cognitive reappraisal when faced with high and low-intensity anger stimuli, using 2(situation intensity: high-intensity,low-intensity)x 3(strategy type: cognitive reappraisal, the joy counteracts anger, neutral avoidance strategy)x 2(anger traits: high traits, low traits)mixed experimental design,in which situation intensity and strategy type are within-subject variables, while anger traits are inter-subject variables. The selection ratio of the adjustment strategy was used as the dependent variable, and finally 90 valid data were collected, including 30 males and 60 females. The results showed that the joy counteracts anger may be an effective short-term emotion regulation strategy.Individuals choose this strategy more among high-and low-intensity anger stimuli;at the same time, when faced with high-intensity anger stimuli,high-trait anger people are more willing to choose a neutral avoidance strategy than low-trait anger people. In summary, the joy counteracts anger is a good-effect emotion regulation strategy, which can effectively alleviate the subjects' subjective experience and aggression level. When faced with high and low intensity anger situations, the subjects all had a high selection ratio, but they showed certain limitations in alleviating the physiological response of anger activation.
