French philosopher Jean Baudrillard began his career as a photographer with a trip. With his insight into the role of photography in society,Baudrillard put forward the argument that subject and object are reversed in photography. This paper takes the meaning of object and subject in Baudrillard's concept of photography as the starting point and expounds his concept of photography in combination with his photography works and those of photographers and artists who are closely related to him, aiming to analyze how subject and object finally merge after disappearing and exchanging. The author finds that the subject and the object in Baudrillard's concept of photography not only represent the photographer and the subject but also include light and the subject taking human as the subject.Under the influence of media technology and symbolic order, the subject and the object disintegrate their original meanings and realize the exchange of their identities. In the process of exchange, the meaning of the other side is dissolved and the state of integration and communion is achieved. This thesis is divided into the following parts: The first chapter elaborated the meaning of the photographic object, namely light, living creature and situation from three different perspectives. The second chapter aims to analyze Baudrillard's interpretation of the subject, from the perspective of the photographer and the person as the subject,to explore how the subject confronts the object in photography and the process of disappearing. The third chapter explores the main reasons and operation mode of the reversal between the subject and the object so that the two reach the final state--fusion.More importantly,Zhuangzi's fable, namely,From here,on the bridge, over the River Hao and dismembering an ox by a skilful butcher was cited in Baudrillard's writings. These references may provide significant clues for rethinking the connection between the subject and the object,as well as contemporary computergenerated images.
