Graded reading is a way to guide students to read at different levels according to their cognitive ability and reading level.The western countries,such as United States and United Kindom,have great graded reading systems.Recently,with the strengthening of curriculum reforms and the start of graded English reading standards,the cultivation of English reading literacy has been importantly foucused from some parties,and the relationship between graded reading and reading literacy has become a new research direction.This research expounds the related research of them at home and abroad.Through a comprehensive research on them,the feasibility of studying the influence of graded reading on the English reading ability of elementary school students is determined.The following hypotheses are verified by empirical research:(1)Graded reading can improve the English reading ability of primary school students.(2)Graded reading can cultivate the primary school students' English reading character.The author conducted a three-month teaching experiment in a primary school affiliated to Nankai in Tianjin,and selected 84 students from two classes as experimental subjects according to their English reading level.In the experiment,graded reading materials published by the Foreign language research and teaching institute were chosen as the graded reading materials.The experimental data of primary school students' English Reading Literacy were collected by STAR Reading Test and questionnaires,and the collected data were analyzed by the aid of SPSS25.0.The results show that graded reading,as an effective approach,can improve the English reading literacy of primary school students.The primary school students with graded reading teaching have improved greatly their reading ability and experience.According to the conclusion of the study and the experimental process of graded reading teaching,some suggestions are put forward for the implementation of practical teaching in primary schools.
