English graded readings are divided into different difficulty levels,which are selected according to the characteristics of physical and mental development,cognitive level of thinking and language learning rules of teenagers or children of different ages.Graded readings are systematic,scientific and specific,which is conducive to the cultivation of students' English reading literacy.The purpose of this study is to explore whether English graded readings can help develop students' English reading literacy,which mainly focuses on the following three questions.Can English graded readings effectively improve fourth-grade students' reading experience? Can English graded readings help develop fourth-grade students' reading habits ? Can English graded readings effectively improve fourth-grade students' reading ability? Through literature research,experimental method,questionnaire survey,interview method and based on the data analysis of the experiment results by SPSS.According to the conclusion,this paper discusses how to choose appropriate English graded readings and how to use English graded readings to cultivate students' English reading literacy,which can be referred by peers and other researchers.The author chose 94 fourth-grade students and randomly divided them into an experimental class and a control class.Before the experiment,the author tested the English level of students in two classes and conducted a questionnaire survey on the English reading levels of students in the experimental class.During the experiment,the author first took three demonstration courses of reading English graded readings in the experimental class to deepen students' understanding of English graded readings.After the demonstration class,the author conducted regular reading activities in the experimental class according to the plan.At the same time,the control class carried out the Story time reading activities for three months.After the experiment,the author conducted a test in two classes and a questionnaire survey in the experimental class.Meanwhile,the author interviewed the parents of the students in the experimental class.Through the collection and analysis of relevant data,the thesis brought the following conclusions :Firstly,English graded readings can effectively improve the reading experience of grade four students.It is mainly to change students' reading attitude and enhance their interest in reading.Secondly,English graded readings help to develop the reading habit of grade four students.It can be seen from the analysis of the results of the parents' interviews that the reading behavior of students has been changed and the reading frequency andamount of students have been increased.Thirdly,English graded readings can effectively improve the reading ability of grade four students.According to the test results before and after the experiment in the experimental class,it can be seen that the students' reading ability has been significantly improved after reading English graded readings.
