In 1908,Ravel was influenced by the poem of the same name by French poet Aloysius Bertrand(1807-1841,France)and composed the Ghost of the Night,which is one of ravel's earliest works and is the work that best embodies his personal musical style.The work consist of three independent theme music,which are " Ondine "," Le Gibet " and "Scarbo ".On the basis of impressionism,thie suite innovates and explores the writing of harmony and melodic texture.Ravel both uses and develops the impressionism style.At the same time in the structure inherited the classical style,but also clever use of various musical elements.At the same time,because of its technical complexity,it has become one of the most challenging and difficult works in the history of piano art.No matter in teaching,competitions or concerts,this work occupies an important seat.This paper is divided into three parts.The first part briefly introduces ravel's life and the historical background of his works.The second part introduces Bertrand and his poem collection “Gaspard de le nuit”.Then,the background,image and mood of the music are analyzed by quoting the original text of the poem and the music score to deepen readers' understanding of the music content and creation style.The third part,from the perspective of performance practice,focuses on extracting the key and difficult points of performance in the three parts of music,and expounds how to practice and produce sound in accordance with the requirements of musical temperament from the perspectives of playing method,power generation method and wrist and arm application in detail by combining the score examples.
