The school of Yin-yang is one of the hundreds of scholars in the pre-Qin period.Its core theory is the thought of Yin-yang and the Five elements,which is an important kernel of the ancient Chinese philosophy system.Although the Yin-yang school is not as prominent as Confucianism and Taoism,but its theory origin is very early,can be traced back to the ancient Shang and Zhou times,early Yin-yang school was familiar with astronomy,astrology and calendar.As one of the prominent schools,the yin-yang school was founded by Zou Yan of Qi.Zou Yan's most representative theories are the Five Virtues and the Great Jiuzhou theory.The thoughts of Yin-yang and the Five Elements collided with Confucianism and Taoism in the pre-Qin period.How did the thoughts of Yin-Yang and the Five elements interact with Confucianism and Taoism,and how did the thoughts of Yin-Yang and the five elements gradually disappear in the later period,and Confucianism and Taoism are in the mainstream,which is still worth the academic discussion.This paper holds that the thought of Yin-yang school has not declined,its five elements thought elements into the later Confucian thought,its Yin-yang thought elements into the later Taoist thought,yin-yang school thought is divided into two,spread in later generations,endless.The first chapter of this paper traces back to the academic origin of yin-Yang and the Five Elements,and defines the contents of yin-yang and the Five elements.Yin and Yang and the Five elements are two concepts,they have different meanings in different periods and stages,from the source and definition of Yin and Yang and the five elements can better comb the development of Yin and Yang.The second chapter of this paper summarizes the pre-Qin scholars' discussion of yin-yang thought and the five Elements thought,takes the Confucianist Daoist Yin-Yang school as the main research object,selects three representative figures,compares the similarities and differences of their thoughts.After comparison,it is found that each school has unique views on the theory of Yin-Yang and the Five elements,with different emphases.For example,Confucianism attaches importance to the five elements,while Taoism attaches importance to Yin-yang.The original idea of Yin-Yang school is to break the inherent geographical concept in ancient China.The third chapter summarizes the development of yin-yang and five elements in the Western Han Dynasty.After the Western Han Dynasty,the status of Yin-yang school was obviously inferior to that of the pre-Qin dynasty,but its core thought of the Five elements was carried forward in Confucianism,and its core thought of Yin-Yang was handed down in Taoism.The thought of yin-yang school also made the Study of Confucian Classics of Han Dynasty yin-yang and five elements,which had a great influence on the way of thinking of governing Confucian classics of later scholars.The emphasis of this paper lies in the exploration and sorting of the thought of Yin-yang and the Five elements of the pre-Qin dynasty,and the innovation lies in the structural division of the thought of Yin-Yang.The main contribution of yin-yang scholars lies in the implementation of the thought of the transformation of opposites of Yin and Yang into the Thinking method of The Chinese people,and the development of the Five Elements thought into the means of maintaining political rule in accordance with The Times.Yin-yang school did not disappear completely in later generations,but in different forms of expression into the various theories.
