| Burnout is a condition of exhaustion of attitudes,emotions,and behaviors resulting from an individual’s long-term adverse experience.Teachers have suffered from heavy workload,large social expectations,multiple role conflicts and other physical and psychological pressure for a long time,and they are a high-risk group of job burnout.Teacher burnout not only affects the physical and mental health of teachers,but also causes serious harm to the quality of education.In recent years,starting from the individual teachers,exploring the psychological capital of teachers to alleviate teachers’ burnout is a hot research direction.As a negative symptom with emotional exhaustion as its core,job burnout is closely related to teachers’ ability to recognize,control and use emotions.Emotional intelligence is a proper term for measuring individual emotion recognition,management and regulation.From the perspective of emotion,it is of practical significance to explore the influence of teachers’ emotional intelligence on job burnout.Mathematics is a major subject in the elementary education stage of a student.Because mathematics has a basic status of entrance examination,middle school math teachers are under greater pressure from students’ math performance.At the same time,the math teacher is also one of the science teachers who have more communication with the parents of the students.In addition,the knowledge taught by mathematics teachers over the years is fixed,and teaching methods and ideas are less divergent than in other disciplines.Therefore,based on the existing research on teachers’emotional intelligence and job burnout,this paper investigates the current situation of mathematics teacher’s burnout and emotion,explores the relationship between mathematics teacher’s emotional intelligence and job burnout,and discusses its impact on students’ mathematics performance.The survey research was based on the "Brief Burnout Questionnaire for Primary and Middle School Teachers"(MBI-ES),which was revised by Professor Wu Xinchun of Beijing Normal University and others in 2016.With the help of tutors and many front-line teachers,a small amount of research was done.Adapted to measure the job burnout of middle school mathematics teachers;The emotional intelligence scale compiled by Wong and Law in 2004 was used to measure the emotional intelligence of middle school mathematics teachers;The mathematics results of eighth grade students in a private middle school in Xi’an were collected to analyze the effects of emotional intelligence and job burnout on mathematics performance of mathematics teachers.There are two ways to issue questionnaires:71 questionnaires were collected online using Questionnaire Stars and 71 valid questionnaires were obtained;108 paper questionnaires were distributed offline and 108 questionnaires were retrieved.A total of 189 questionnaires were obtained.After screening,the invalid questionnaires were been pick out and obtained 177 valid questionnaires.Then the questionnaire information was entered into spss23.0 for data analysis.The data analysis mainly includes five parts:reliability and validity analysis,difference analysis,correlation analysis,regression analysis and main effect analysis of the questionnaire.There are four main issues to be discussed;one is to analyze the impact of demographic factors such as gender,age,and title on middle school mathematics teachers ’job burnout and emotional intelligence as a whole and their dimensions;the second is to analyze the correlation between middle school mathematics teachers’ emotional intelligence and job burnout The third is the regression analysis of emotional intelligence on the overall and various dimensions of teachers ’burnout.The fourth is the analysis of the main effects of emotional intelligence and burnout of middle school mathematics teachers on students’ mathematical performance.The conclusions obtained in this paper are:(1)there is a significant difference in age,teaching age,family attitudes and other factors of job burnout among middle school mathematics teachers,and some dimensions of job burnout have significant differences in factors such as gender and education;(2)Some dimensions of the emotional intelligence of mathematics teachers have significant differences in factors such as gender,teaching period,and nature of work;(3)Middle school mathematics teachers ’emotional intelligence and job burnout show a moderate intensity negative correlation(r=-0.402),that is,middle school mathematics teachers’ emotional intelligence can negative prediction of burnout.Emotional intelligence,as a health factor in individual psychological resources,is trainable.Therefore,improving the emotional intelligence of mathematics teachers can effectively reduce the job burnout of middle school mathematics teachers;(4)the emotional control ability of mathematics teachers can significantly negative predict the various dimensions and the overall situation of burnout;(5)The main effects of emotional intelligence and job burnout of middle school mathematics teachers on students ’mathematical performance are not significant,but there is an interaction between the two.The improvement of emotional intelligence can reduce the negative impact of teacher burnout on students’ mathematical performance. |
