With the decline of undergraduates' quality,the state and society propose to increase the academic stress for undergraduates.However,excessive academic stress will bring a negative impact on undergraduates.By analyzing the current situation of undergraduates' academic stress,we can give suggestions on the questions whether to increase academic stress and how to increase academic stress reasonably.This paper investigates the academic stress of 401 undergraduates from the aspects of the classroom performance;learning environment;school,parents,society and personal reasons It is found that the overall academic stress of undergraduates is at the middle level.It is also found that the academic stress intensity caused by school,parents,and society is at the significantly highest level and higher than the average value of the overall stress.In addition,the academic stress of undergraduates from different backgrounds is different.First of all,in terms of classroom performance aspect,academic stress decreases from freshman to senior in order.The academic stress of 985 or 211 college students is significantly higher than that of ordinary college students.With the professional ranking increasing,the academic stress on students of classroom aspects decreases.In terms of learning environment,sophomores are under the highest stress,while seniors are under the lowest stress.As the part of learning environment,female students have more stress than male students.The academic stress of ordinary college students in the learning environment is higher than that of 985 or 211 universities students.In terms of parents,school,and society part,senior students have the least academic stress,and the other three grades have little difference.The students who plan to have further education have the most academic stress.The students whose parents least educated are under the highest stress from school,parents,and society.Finally,in terms of personal reasons,such as being late,early leaving,absenteeism,freshmen have the most academic stress,and seniors have the least.The academic stress of 985 or 211 college students is higher than that of ordinary college undergraduates.Undergraduates' academic stress caused by personal reasons is negatively correlated with their rankings: the higher the major ranking is,the lower the academic stress will be caused by their personal reasons.Well educated parents do better on communicating with their children scientifically.When children encounter setbacks and stress,they are more willing to turn to their parents for help.As for the decline of undergraduates' quality,we can reasonably increase the academic stress,using the positive influence of stress to promote the progress of undergraduate learning,in order to promote the quality of higher education.We should avoid the negative effects of excessive academic stress from parents,schools andthemselves according to the characteristics of different groups of students.The abilities of undergraduates to cope with academic stress by strengthening self-regulation,self-defense,and social support should also be improved.
