In 2017,the new version of "General High School Biology Curriculum Standards" was promulgated.Under the new curriculum standards,the demand of core competencies of the subject has been rised to a certain height.The goal of Biology subject is to cultivate the core competencies of students which include four aspects: concept of life,scientific thinking,scientific inquiry,and social responsibility.Experiential teaching,by allowing students to participate and experience,helps students to enhance their personal qualities,learn to explore independently and cultivate innovative spirit in the process.Therefore,it is a efficient teaching method in cultivating core competencies of students in Biology to achieve better integrated development.The study of experiential teaching abroad was earlier,and the concept was only mentioned and studied in China mainly after the promulgation of the "National Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education Subjects" in 2001.As we all know,the development of rural education and urban education in China is uneven and there is a big gap.Experiential teaching is a relatively new teaching method.If experiential teaching is implemented in rural schools,will it help students learn more?There are two purposes of this essay: understanding the popularity of experiential teaching in rural schools and the impact of this teaching model on all aspects of students' learning in Biology.To understand the current status of the implementation of experiential teaching in Youyang County,the author used methods of different questionnaire for teachers and students,researching literature,and interview.As the results showing :1.Most teachers in the area have basic knowledge of experiential teaching 2.Although it is understood,there are not many applications of experiential teaching,mainly because teachers have concerns and worries about it.3.Most teachers and students recognize that this method can improve teaching effects.A semester of experiential teaching was carried out with the junior and high school classes of Third Middle School in Dingshi Town,Youyang County.,control experiment was used.The normal class uses traditional teaching,and the experimental class uses experiential teaching.The pre-test data involved mid-term results of students from normal andexperimental classes,and results of the questionnaires on their interest and attitude in learning Biology.Accordingly,after three months,the post-test data collected from their final exam results and the similar questionnaires.In regards of exam scores,the average score,the highest score,the passing rate,and the excellent rate of the students after the experiment are higher than before.The significant difference P value is measured before and after the experiment(P <0.05),indicating that the two groups of data are significantly different,and the effect of experiential teaching on performance improvement is obvious.For the interest and attitude of Biology,a quantitative questionnaire is used.These options are evaluated separately to calculate the score of each student.The higher the score,the higher the student 's interest in Biology.It is found that the average score of the student is higher after the experiment than before the experiment.The data of pre-test and post-test are measured by the chi-squared test of SPSS software and analysed of significant difference,and the following conclusions are drawn: 1.The use of experiential teaching methods can improve students' academic performance.2.Experiential teaching improves students' motivation and interest in learning,and corrects their learning attitude.3.Experiential teaching makes students more positive towards the subject of Biology.Experiential teaching is a teaching method that conforms to the new curriculum concept.It can enhance students' interest in learning,thereby improving their efficiency.In terms of teachers,it can also help teachers improve professional qualities and the efficiency of teaching.Last but not least,it lays a better foundation of fair relationship between teachers and students with mutual respect.When carrying out experiential teaching,teachers should utilize multi-media,observe students 'emotional development,inspire students in their thinking training,so that experiential teaching can be better implemented to maximize the effect.
