Computational thinking is a basic quality of people in the information age,while STEM education emphasizes interdisciplinary and integrated learning.With the vigorous development of STEM education,how to cultivate students' computational thinking has become an important research topic for educators.Especially for middle school students,the formation of thinking is more important than the learning of technology.However,at present,the cultivation of middle school students' computational thinking lays more stress on the teaching of technology and the learning of program design,and ignores the cultivation and transfer of students' computational thinking ability.Therefore,it is particularly important to research and explore the cultivation mode of middle school students' computational thinking in the context of STEM education.Based on the review of the research status at home and abroad,this paper analyzes the correlation between computational thinking and STEM education,and constructs the cultivation mode of students' computational thinking under the background of STEM education under the guidance of constructivism learning theory,Dewey's theory of "learning by doing" and the theory of multiple intelligences.With the help of STEM teaching activities,this model transforms the cultivation of computational thinking elements into controllable learning steps.In the definition of the real situation of the problem,the students understand the subject and the nature of the problem in the real situation of the problem,and decompose the complex problem into several related small problems.On the basis of understanding the background,planning and problem decomposition,students grasp the problem background,find and select data information suitable for the completion of the project and abstract description;Then,students determine the solution or algorithm according to the topic needs and prototype;In the process of debugging and modification,I made self-evaluation and repeated modification for problems and errors,until I got the most satisfactory work.Finally,evaluate,summarize and summarize the production process and the effect of the work,and systematize the knowledge.In order to verify the effectiveness of this model,it is applied to the teaching practice of junior high school information technology courses.The results show that the students' abilities of product decomposition,abstraction,algorithm understanding and design,debugging and generalization have been improved to a certain extent,and their abilities of computing thinking to solve other problems have also been significantly improved.In the next step,a larger range of teaching practices will be carried out to improve the computational thinking cultivation model of middle school students in the context of STEM education.
