The Chemistry Curriculum Standards for General Senior High Schools(2017 Version)clearly states that we should put much emphasis on developing students'chemical literacies while teaching,and advocating"literacy oriented"teaching practice and assessment.Chemistry learning power is the essential key ability for cultivating students'chemical literacy,and the prerequisite and driving force of promoting chemical competencies,it also fosters the development of other competencies of learners.Hence,the key to cultivating the chemical literacy is developing the learning ability,in other words,the development of learning ability is the practical requirement of cultivating the literacies.Mini-course is short but efficient,flexible and easy to implement in teaching various disciplines,by mini-course teachers can reach one to three specific instructional objectives in one or two classes.Electrochemistry is one of the topics with the characteristics of secondary school chemistry,and experiment is the most representational trait that distinguish chemistry from other subjects,therefore mini-course developed by electrochemical experiment cases will effectively help improve various chemical learning abilities of students like driving force,thinking ability,practical skills and decision-making.In my manuscript,I searched relevant literatures to study previous researchers'findings,and then to figure out my research plans.Next,aiming at promote students'chemical learning abilities,I employed two electrochemical experiment cases to organize the mini-course teaching processes,and adapted them to teaching practices.Via referring to definitions and structures interpreted by other scholars,I developed the scale used to evaluate students'chemical learning abilities.Finally,I tried to come to a conclusion about weather my mini-course could effectively help increase students'chemical learning abilities by inviting them to answer my instrument.I believe that my study will serve as a successful case for chemical educators and researchers to cultivate high school students'chemical abilities.Here's an overview of my study.In the first chapter,I reviewed a large number of literatures derived from keywords like“mini-course”,“chemical learning abilities”,“primary cells and electrolytic cells”,to learn topics and likes in previous researches,to summarize their pros and cons,and to further my study so that I would make my research plans,select my research methods and contents.In the second chapter,I raised my research objectives,including confirming the internal consistence and validating my scale,designing the two teaching processes in electrochemistry,and measuring the effectiveness of my teachings.Furthermore,I confirmed my research methods,like literature researches,questionnaires,comparisons and data statistical analysis,then formulated the research plan and research framework.In the third chapter,the theoretical background was built,several varieties were defined such as“mini-course”,“learning ability”and“chemical learning ability”,theories like“Constructivism”,“exploratory learning”,“problem-based learning”,and“collaborative learning”were also interpreted in this part to guide my study of designing teaching possesses.The fourth chapter was produced to state the chemical-learning-abilities-oriented mini-course teaching possesses in Electrochemistry.In this sector,I introduced the two chemical experiments briefly,then after studying the theory of chemical learning abilities,I made them to classes.The fifth chapter was mainly designed to cope with two questions.One is to develop an instrument of validity and internal consistence,I referred to the conclusions of previous researches and conducting a pilot study,listened to the advices from experts in chemical education to form a final scale.The other is exerting instructions and assessments.At first,120 11thgrade students volunteered to participate in our educational experiment,they were distributed into two groups(the experiment group and traditional group).Before any interventions,both group students were tested by the scale of chemical learning abilities,I analyzed the results and their monthly exam results.Then the experiment group students were treated with teaching possesses,while the traditional group students were asked to revise relevant electrochemistry facts by one teacher in the same period of time.Finally,all the students were invited to answer the scale again as the post-test,the results of students from experiment group and traditional group were compared to predict that my teaching could help improve students'chemical learning abilities.In the last chapter,I summarized my findings,on the purpose of increasing students'chemical learning abilities,my developed mini-course teaching possesses in electrochemistry turned to be a successful case.Moreover,some plans in my future study were explained.
