Western developed countries have achieved good results in professional career education.In contrast,the development of professional career education in our country lags behind.With the rapid development of the knowledge economy and the competition between countries under the current international situation is the competition of talents and the competition of science and technology,it is imperative to carry out career education.According to the theory of career development,it is a critical period for students to formally cultivate their career awareness between the ages of 15 and 24.At the same time,the new round of high school curriculum reform emphasizes the abolition of liberal arts and sciences so that students can choose subjects according to their own wishes,which highlights the improvement of students in the middle school stage.The importance of career awareness and cultivating students' career planning ability.Although my country has issued relevant documents as early as the 1990s,it is necessary to pay attention to the development of professional career education for middle school students.However,under the influence of the college entrance examination,"score-only theory" has always been the mainstream consciousness of the society,and the relevant documents issued by the state are not compulsive enough,so that career education has not been formally implemented in general schools in the end.Although schools in first-tier cities such as Shanghai,Beijing and Guangzhou have tried to carry out career education in middle schools,they ended up with a lack of professional career guidance teachers and specialized career teaching materials.This paper sorts out the research status of career education at home and abroad,and finds that many countries that implement career education are carried out by designing specialized courses.According to my country's current national conditions,it is more difficult to set up specialized courses for career education.The penetration of career education in teaching is more reasonable.Based on this,a comparative study was conducted between the People's Education Edition high school geography textbook and the geography textbook "Science Discoverer" widely used in high schools in China and the United States.First,introduce the background of career education in China and the United States and the basic information of the two editions of textbooks,and compare the differences in the penetration of the two editions of textbooks on the content of career education from a macro level.Secondly,based on the training goals of career education promulgated by China and the United States,the columns for infiltrating career education in the two editions of textbooks have been sorted out,and the specific contents are classified as "geography-related occupations"and "geography learning".The two editions of textbooks are compared in terms of the number of settings in the three parts of "Methods" and "Geography and Life".Finally,according to the direct and intuitive impact of keywords and images related to career information on career education,the differences in the career coverage and career content illustrations of the two editions of the textbook were compared.The main research conclusion is that the two editions of the textbooks have advantages in penetrating the content of career education,but in comparison,the"Science Discoverer" textbook is stronger than the high school geography textbook of the People's Education Edition in terms of career penetration.Combining the relevant theoretical foundations of career education,four principles for the compilation of high school geography textbooks are put forward-developmental principles,life-oriented principles,principles of subjectivity and diversity,and four strategies-diversified design of textbook columns,The main body arrangement of the textbook content,the increase of the frequency of occupational information and the setting of the textbook evaluation system,and the integration of career education content in the main text,the integration of career education content in existing problem investigations,activities and other columns,and the creation of specialized geography-related occupations From three perspectives in the information introduction column,a case design was carried out.
