This paper analyzes and discusses Rong Gaotang's contribution to sports theory and practice by means of literature reviews method,historical comparison method,logical analysis method,text analysis method and image analysis method.Rong Gaotang,the former deputy director of the State Sports Commission(1954-1967),the winner of New China's first Olympic silver medal,as the important builder and participant of sports made an important contributions to the development of sports in the People's Republic of China.An investigation of his basic view of sports and sporting practice can better summarize the basic characteristics of the socialist sports road with Chinese characteristics,and provide suggestions and references for strengthening the construction of sports powerful nation in the new era.This paper mainly divides into two parts.Firstly,starting from Rong Gaotang's early educational experience,summarizing the main characteristics of each stage.At the elementary school stage,he loves basketball.At the junior middle stage,he is enrolled in a civilian middle school that emphasizes physical education.At the high school stage,as a provincial level Representatives of the basketball team,he participated in the National Games,and studied at Tsinghua University,which is renowned for its emphasis on sport.When the Anti-Japanese War broke out while studying in Tsinghua University,Rong Gaotang joined the Peking students' mobile troupe in the process of moving south with Tsinghua University to publicize the idea of national salvation through sports.The influence of sports on Rong Gaotang can be seen in his schooling experience.Secondly,Rong Gaotang's sports writings and sports practice are analyzed and summarized.The research shows that Rong Gaotang's sports concept and sports practice are mainly reflected in the following aspects: 1.Suggestions to establish the Central Sports Commission to strengthen the government's leadership in sports;2.Organize various forms of study conferences and training courses throughout the country to train sports cadres and build up a reserve force of sports management personnel;3.Proposing the establishment of Sports Newspaper,New Sports Magazine,and the Sports Publishing House,thus creating a precedent for sports publicity in China;4.Carry out the "labor guard system" among teenagers and the army,promote the development of mass sports;5.Utilize the diplomatic function of sports,actively connect with international sports diplomatic activities,and improve the international status of New China;6.Seize the opportunities to promote the process of the Olympic Movement in China when the time of hosting and participating in the Olympic Games,Asian Games and bidding for the Olympic Games;7.Put forward the concept of "focusing on advantages and key points" in competitive sports work,and enhance the international influence of competitive sports such as table tennis,volleyball and mountaineering.Throughout Rong Gaotang's life,he became attached to sports when he was young,loved sports when he was young,and began to struggle for the sports cause of the People's Republic of China all his life.By sorting out his sports practice,clarifying his ideological context,and summarizing his influence and value,this paper presents the extraordinary development course of sports in the People's Republic of China from the perspective of the development of outstanding sports individuals,and reveals the complex interaction and symbiosis between the sports development of the country and the nation and individual life.It can also show the extraordinary progress course and brilliant achievements of sports in the People's Republic of China from another aspect.
