The article aims to explore the textbook difficulty and cognitive load,using the difficulty model of the textbook,for the first time to the new PEP B Edition and Jiangsu Education Edition difficulty,by comparing their content breadth,content depth,exercise difficulty,analyze the characteristics of the two textbooks,and then learn from each other,learn.From the perspective of cognitive load theory,the internal,external,relevant and total cognitive load is analyzed,which provides some data support for the preparation and revision of the two versions.Therefore,taking the PEP B and Jiangsu Education Edition high school mathematics textbooks as the research objects,taking "Geometric and Algebra" as an example,the comparative method,content analysis method and quantitative characterization are adopted.The research questions are set as follows:(1)What are the similarities and differences in the difficulty of the two editions?(2)What are the similarities and differences in the cognitive load of the two editions?The following findings were obtained:(1)The comprehensive difficulty of the PEP B edition of the teaching material is greater than that of the Jiangsu Education Edition,and the PEP B edition of the teaching material is larger than that of the Jiangsu Education Edition in terms of content breadth,content depth and exercise difficulty(2)The cognitive load of the PEP B edition of teaching materials is higher than that of the Jiangsu Education Edition,and the internal cognitive load,external cognitive load and related cognitive load of the PEP B edition of teaching materials are higher than those of the Jiangsu Education EditionRecommendations based on the findings of the study:(1)Pay more attention to the formation of knowledge and refine the relevant knowledge points of teaching materials(2)Adjust the proportion of imitation,transfer and inquiry level exercises,appropriately increase the inquiry level exercises,and balance the setting of exercise situations.(3)To increase the types and number of teaching material columns and to enrich the setting of pictures and tables of teaching materials...
