Physical activity(PA)refers to "any form of body movement in which skeletal muscle contraction leads to energy consumption".In recent years, students' physical health problems caused by the development of society and the change of people's lifestyle have been widely concerned.A large number of studies have proved that the lack of physical activity of students is one of the main reasons for students' physical health. In order to reduce the physical health problems of children and adolescents caused by lack of physical activity, the World Health Organization proposed that children and adolescents should accumulate at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity(MVPA)every day.Children and adolescents spend most of their time in school.Physical activity during school, especially in the physical activity in school physical education environment,is particularly important for students to achieve 60 minutes of physical activity per day. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to understand and analyze the physical environment of primary and secondary school physical education and the level of high intensity physical activity in Shanghai, and further explore and analyze the relationship between the two. This study aimed to examine the association between physical environment and moderate to vigorous physical activity(MVPA)during physical education(PE)in elementary and secondary schools in Shanghai. Methods A total of 284 PE lessons from ten schools in Shanghai(5 elementary schools,5 secondary schools)were selected.Data on students' moderate-to-vigorous physical activity(MVPA)during PE classes were collected using w GT3X-BT accelerometers, while data on physical environmental factors during PE lessons(lesson length, class size, lesson location, weather, temperature, class materials and size of activity area were collected using record sheets. In order to provide scientific basis for the promotion of physical activities in primary and secondary schools in Shanghai, this paper discusses the differences of physical environment under different conditions and the relationship between physical environment of physical education in primary and secondary schools in Shanghai and the level of moderate and high-intensity physical activity Results : 1)Overall percentages lesson time in MVPA were 40.27±0.08% and 40.51±0.07% during PE lessons in elementary and secondary schools respectively.2)MVPA percent in elementary schools were significantly associated with temperature(?=-0.26,p=0.00)weather(?=0.17,p=0.03),and the material of the ground(?=-0.52,p=0.00)in PE lessons, that is,students spent significantly more MVPA time in cloudy than sunny lessons, and, when students were in soft ground, activity was to be higher intensity compared with solid ground.Students MVPA during secondary schools were positively related to the size of activity area(?=0.17,P=0.04)and lesson location(?=-0.28,P=0.04),specifically,students' MVPA time were significantly higher in outdoor compared with indoors classes.3)The contribution rate of physical environmental factors to the MVPA level of primary school students is 29.51%,and to these condary school is 11.20%.Conclusion the average MVPA% of P.E.in middle and primary school students is lower than the international recommended level of50%.Compared with junior middle school PE class, physical environment of PE class had a more significant effect on MVPA% of PE students in primary school.
