The general high school mathematics curriculum standards clearly implement the core literacy of mathematics as the starting point of mathematics teaching and learning.The teaching objectives require students not only to acquire knowledge and skills,but more importantly,to promote active learning and cultivate students' core literacy in the subject.The unit teaching design can build a bridge between teaching design and subject core literacy and enhance the height of teachers' teaching design.The unit teaching pointing to subject core literacy advocates a holistic teaching view and can enable students to achieve de-fragmented learning.This study is a research of teaching design of complex number units in the context of core literacy in mathematics.First,we clarify the meaning of the term "unit teaching design" through a literature review and sort through relevant research on key competencies,unit teaching design,and teaching complex numbers in mathematics to provide a theoretical framework for the following study.Second,interviews and questionnaires were administered to determine the current state of secondary mathematics teachers' teaching of complex numbers and teaching of units,and quizzes were used to examine the current learning of complex numbers by secondary mathematics students.The survey showed that both high school high school mathematics teachers and high school students do not pay enough attention to the knowledge of complex numbers,there are problems in the teaching and learning of complex numbers,and the level of research remains at a low level.Based on the above theoretical research and empirical studies,we can conclude that combining knowledge of complex numbers with the teaching of units and developing a more holistic and logical curriculum can give teachers and students a new perspective on the importance of complex numbers.Based on the core literacy of mathematics,we study the teaching design of complex number units based on the "ADDIE" model,and give specific examples of unit-lesson teaching based on the unit teaching design for the reference of front-line mathematics teachers.The study shows that a unit design-oriented complex number teaching can provide students with a holistic thinking environment and diversified learning ideas,facilitate teachers to accomplish classroom teaching objectives,and develop students' core literacy in mathematics.The study of complex number unit instructional design and the implementation of complex number teaching practices improved the problem of lack of relevance and application in complex number teaching.After solving the problem,teachers and students are able to improve the teaching and learning of complex numbers and return to the nurturing value of mathematics.
