The general objectives of the Compulsory Mathematics Curriculum(2011 Edition)require that through mathematics learning,students can feel the connections between mathematical knowledge and between mathematics and life,use mathematical ways of thinking and scientific methods to conduct research,and thus improve their ability to explore problems,analyze information and deal with problems.Problem-based learning(PBL)is a new classroom model in which classroom instruction is conducted in real-life situations,where students discover and then further solve real,inquiry-worthy mathematical learning problems,and students experience first-hand the freedom to interact with each other in an independent and cooperative way to accomplish their goals.This is valuable teaching and learning to achieve all-round and balanced development of students.Mathematical equations take up a large proportion of middle school textbooks,and it is of research interest to find out how to better utilize the advantages of PBL to achieve learning goals in an orderly yet easy manner.After learning about PBL and equation teaching,the author firstly constructed the application of PBL model and equation teaching,and started the preliminary analysis of the application of PBL from three aspects: theoretical foundation,analysis of equation teaching content and analysis of junior high school students,and then determined the main points of the application of PBL model,mainly including the design of teaching model,application principles and the overall design of PBL in equation teaching.Next,the author selected the equation of the first grade of the seventh grade as the research content to carry out action research,through design,implementation and reflective evaluation of teaching research.After the research progresses gradually,the author believes that: the PBL model does have a positive effect on the teaching effect of equations.Reflecting on the research process from the beginning to the end,the author believes that: when teachers apply PBL,the first thing they must do is to scientifically select appropriate teaching contents,because not all mathematical contents are suitable for this form of learning;secondly,teachers must be good at group assignment,in the classroom,supervising the development of activities and advancing the teaching process.Finally,the most important thing is that teachers should change their own concept of knowledge-only and take the development of students' core literacy as the guideline of educational behavior.
