Mathematics is widely used in our life.Cultivating students' awareness of mathematics application is the basic requirement of this subject.Model Thought is a basic method of thinking in mathematics.It is also the only concept named by“thought” among the ten core concepts.As one of the vital important modules of mathematics,algebra teaching can effectively improve middle school students' thinking ability,innovation and application consciousness by integrating the idea of Model Thought into daily lessons.Therefore,the study focuses on these questions as follows:(1)What is the current situation about integrating Model Thought into algebra teaching in the middle school?(2)How to design a middle school algebra teaching case based on Model Thought?(3)What effect will middle school algebra teaching based on Model Thought have?Firstly,this study gets to know the current situation about the integration of Model Thought into middle school algebra teaching from the perspective of students and teachers through questionnaires and interviews.Secondly,the detailed analysis of teaching content of Model Thought in algebra is presented in five modules.Finally,based on the teaching process,students' homework and interviews as well as personal teaching experience,the author analyzes the implementation of the teaching situation and the students' learning situation.This study draws the following conclusions through questionnaire survey,interview and case study:(1)According to students involved in the survey,Model Thought is helpful to their algebra learning.However,most of them do not have a clear understanding of the idea of Model Thought,and their ability to establish models to solve problems is weak.On the other hand,teachers' integration of Model Thought into algebra teaching is limited to a certain point,not in a systematic and long-term way.(2)Through case analysis and practice,this paper concludes five steps of algebra teaching based on Model Thought: Creating a situation to perceive the model Self-induction to construct the model Exercise consolidation to deepen the model Reflection and drawing a conclusion to improve the model Giving feedback to consolidate the model(3)Algebra teaching based on Model Thought can improve students' attitudes towards studies and enhance their model-establishing and problem-solving ability so as to promote students' development in many different aspects.Meanwhile,it can also stimulate teachers to understand teaching materials better.
