At the beginning of 2020,the new type of coronavirus pneumonia invaded Wuhan,China,and spread rapidly to various provinces and cities around the peak of the Chinese New Year movement of people.It has become the most serious public health emergency since SARS in the 21 st century.What followed was the chaos and cumbersomeness of the public opinion field.Compared with the SARS period,my country’s media has made substantial progress in responding to the chaos of public opinion caused by sudden public health incidents.In order to appease the public’s panic in public health incidents,my country’s traditional media combined the advantages of new media to conduct active and strong public opinion guidance since the outbreak of the epidemic.Among them,the "empathy communication" of the media of all parties is the most moving and reassuring thing among the people,which has had a positive effect that cannot be ignored in a special period.This article uses some of the tweets from the We Chat public account of Southern People Weekly during the early stage of the epidemic(during the lockdown of Wuhan)as a research sample,through the text analysis and content analysis of the sample tweets,as well as the word frequency analysis of readers’ comments,sentiment analysis,etc.,To explore why the communication of empathy arouses repercussions in the hearts of the people,and what kind of operating logic is used to achieve the purpose of promoting people’s pro-social behavior.Research has found that empathy communication first establishes relationships and transfers situations through character identities,and then uses super-normal narratives to set an understanding path for the audience,and finally uses altruistic emotions to activate the people’s empathy behavior.On this basis,a number of suggestions for the media’s attempts to promote pro-social behavior through empathy communication are put forward.
