Caixin Character Report Narrative Research

Character report has increasingly become a popular form of news report among readers because of its easy-to-understand language,lively and diverse forms,three-dimensional character images and close to people’s lives.It has also become commonly used form of news report by the current media.Since the outbreak of COVID-19 at the end of 2019,Caixin has devoted itself to restoring the truth of the epidemic through character reporting,tracking and interviewing more than a thousand in-depth and three-dimensional news reports,creating vivid characters one by one.His report was forwarded by a large number of people,causing a strong social response,arousing the emotional resonance of the public and winning support and trust.This paper takes Caixin as the research object,and selects 75 character reports published on the We Chat official account of Caixin since January 20,2020 and solstice between July 20,2020 as the research sample for narrative analysis.Through the theory of news narratology,this paper analyzes the new changes of its characters’ reporting and narrative characteristics.This paper attempts to explore the following questions: How does Caixin carry out character narration in the event of sudden public events? How to give consideration to the timeliness,truth and depth of the in-depth character reporting? What are the characteristics of its profile during the epidemic? What is unique about its narrative strategy and style? It is found that the most obvious narrative feature of Caixin’s character reports is to try to approach feature writing.Pay attention to multiple narrative,convey multiple voices,pay attention to different groups,have humanistic care,shape character image.In addition,Caixin character report also has the characteristics of story-oriented,detailed and structured,which breaks through the traditional narrative template.It embodies diversity in narrative techniques,such as news story-oriented,story-oriented and feature-oriented reports.Enhancing the readability of news text;The construction of three-dimensional character image.To some extent,it reflects the development trend of character reports in the new media era.
