"Plant and Ecological Foundation" is a specialized basic course for the major of landscape technology in secondary vocational and technical schools.Its content focuses on the anatomy of plant morphology,physiology and ecological use of garden plants,aiming to lay a foundation for students’ subsequent specialized courses.However,at present,the learning effect of this course generally fails to achieve the teaching objectives of the course,which is mainly reflected in the teaching status quo of low participation of students in learning class,weak grasp of knowledge and skills,weak practical ability,and poor connection between theory and practice.Relevant research shows that task-driven teaching method with behavior orientation is conducive to the achievement of modern vocational education training objectives and plays a significant role in improving students’ comprehensive professional skills.Therefore,this study explores the effect of applying task-driven teaching method to the teaching practice of "Plant and Ecological Basis",aiming at improving the teaching status and teaching quality of the course.This study carries out the following tasks in sequence: Firstly,literature analysis is used to sort out the research status of task-driven teaching method at home and abroad,define the relevant concepts of task-driven teaching method,and explain the relevant theories supporting the research development;Then,on the basis of analyzing the teaching materials and clarifying the connotation and characteristics of task-driven teaching method,the operation process of applying task-driven teaching method in the course of "Plant and Ecology Foundation" is designed.Finally,the author designed the teaching task of plant morphological recognition on campus,and carried out practical teaching in X Secondary Vocational School in Qingyang city,and evaluated the teaching effect by issuing questionnaires to students and interviewing teacher and students.The research results show that the teaching method is highly accepted by students,and it has improved the practical ability,the ability to connect theory with practice,and the ability to communicate and learn.Students expect that the teaching method can be applied in subsequent courses.At the same time,the study found that there are significant differences in the improvement of learning ability of students of different genders by this teaching method,among which the most prominent is that boys are significantly higher than girls in promoting effective learning,while girls are significantly higher than boys in improving the ability of connecting theory with practice and practical operation.To sum up,task-driven teaching method can effectively improve the teaching status of The course "Plant and Ecological Basis",which can provide reference for the subsequent research on the teaching method of this course.
