Great progress has been made in mobile communication technology, that the 5th Generation Mobile Communication Technology has been applied and popularized.The5 th Generation Mobile Communication Technology has the characteristics of low delay, large number of connections and high speed. It can be applied to smart city, smart high-speed rail, telemedicine and other industries. It provides a theoretical basis for the design and optimization during the development of the 5th Generation Mobile Communication System,if the accurate radio wave propagation characteristics can be obtained. Therefore,it is of great significance and practical value to study the sounding methods for radio wave propagation and develop the system. The difficulty of obtaining the number of multipaths is to solve the problem of clock synchronization, and then it is possible to obtain the direction of arrival of each multi-path component, and the key is to obtain the amplitude of each path signal. This thesis studies the two problems above and designs the sounding scheme of radio wave propagation. Finally,a software radio sounding system for radio wave propagation is developed by using this method, which has the advantages of programmability, high flexibility and open source, etc. The main contents are as follows:(1)It is difficult to solve the problem that the transmitting equipment and the receiving equipment sends and receives signals out of sync. This synchronization problem is effectively suppressed by demodulating BPSK detection sequence using Costas loop;(2)The problem of finding the direction of arrival of multi-path component has been solved using multi-antenna by the relationship between different angles and amplitudes;(3)A sounding system for radio wave propagation using the programmable software radio platform Hack RF One hardware and GNU Radio software has been designed and built, which can measure the number of multi-paths and the direction of arrival of each path. The solution with low cost, miniaturization and high flexibility is realized, through the research of methods and the development of the platform. It can be simply and quickly transplanted to the high-performance software radio platform,so as to meet the requirements of higher frequency and higher precision.
