| Research Objectives:By studying Otago training, this paper observed the effects of 12-week training on balance ability, lower limb muscle strength, lower limb extension flexibility, gait function, body posture control ability and fear of falling in the elderly with low fall risk, and discussed the intervention effect of Otago exercise on fall risk in the elderly with low fall risk.To provide reference for the community to develop simple and feasible sports intervention measures to prevent falling.Research Methods:The methods of literature, questionnaire, experiment and mathematical statistics are adopted, among which the main research methods are experimental.38 volunteers were recruited near Fenglin Oasis small area in Xi ’an High-tech Zone, among which19 were in the control group. They took free exercise for 12 weeks, including slow walking, tai chi, square dancing, etc. The experimental group of 19 people,12 weeks of group Otago exercise, the first part of the first to the third stage, including warm-up exercise, muscle strength training, balance training, the second part of the fourth stage walking. Before and after the experimental intervention, the data of sitting body forward bend test,5 times of sitting up test,30 s continuous seat test, standing on one leg with eyes closed,360° in place rotation test,"timing-stand-walk" test and fall performance table test were collected in the two groups, and the data were analyzed by SPSS26.0 statistical software.Research results:(1)Physical activity ability: After 12 weeks of Otago exercise intervention, the experimental group after 5 times of sitting up experiment was significantly lower than before the experiment, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.01),no significant difference was found in the control group(P>0.05);The time of the experimental group after the time-standing up and walking experiment was significantly lower than that before the experiment, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.01),no significant difference was found in the control group(P>0.05);The number of 30 seconds continuous seat experiment in the experimental group increased significantly compared with that before the experiment, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.01),no significant difference was found in the control group(P>0.05);There was no significant difference before and after sitting flexion test in the experimental group, the control group showed no significant difference.(2)Balance ability: After 12-week Otago exercise intervention, the experimental group’s standing time with eyes closed increased significantly after the experiment compared with the time before the experiment, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.01),no significant difference was found in the control group(P>0.05);The time of the experimental group after 360° in situ rotation was lower than that before the experiment, and there was a statistically significant difference(P<0.05),the control group showed no significant difference(P>0.05).(3)The psychological aspect of fear of falling: after 12 weeks of Otago exercise intervention, the score of fall efficacy scale in the experimental group increased significantly after the experiment compared with that before the experiment, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.01),no significant difference was found in the control group(P>0.05).(4)After 12 weeks of Otago exercise intervention, the experimental group compared with the control group, the fall efficacy scale scores were significantly improved(P<0.05),the time of standing on one foot with eyes closed was significantly increased(P<0.05),the timing, standing up and walking time were significantly decreased(P<0.05),in situ rotation time of 360° was significantly reduced(P<0.05),5 times of initiation were significantly decreased(P<0.05),the number of consecutive seats in 30 seconds was significantly increased(P<0.05),there was no significant change in seated flexion distance(P>0.05).Research conclusions:(1)Otago exercise can improve the balance function, lower limb muscle strength, postural control ability and gait stability of the elderly, especially the static balance and lower limb muscle strength are significantly improved, and improve the physical activity ability of the elderly.(2)Otago exercise can effectively enhance the elderly’s confidence in activities and reduce the psychological fear of falling.(3)Persistent practice of Otago exercise can effectively reduce and prevent the occurrence of falls in the elderly. |
