With the rapid development of optical theory and technology,a lot of innovative optical elements and devices have been proposed.Traditional optical devices have some problems,such as large size,complex optical path and single function,which limit the development of integrated,miniaturized and multi-functional optical devices.Due to the advantages of information multiplexing,high security of information encryption and so on,multifunction planar devices have been widely studied.How to construct a planar device with low cost and simple design is an urgent problem to be solved.In this paper,planar devices based on anisotropic structure are proposed,which can flexibly manipulate fundamental properties(amplitude,phase,polarization,frequency and so on)of electromagnetic wave by the unusual electromagnetic responses of anisotropic structure.By carefully optimizing the geometry parameters of the unit structure,the multifunctional devices designed can realize different optical functions.The proposed method could provide greater degree of freedom to designs of lightweight devices,which could be employed in optical applications,such as virtual or augmented reality displays,dynamic display,and anti-counterfeiting technology.1.This paper proposes multifunctional metasurfaces integrating near-field display and 3D holography.Because anisotropic structures behave unusual manipulation capabilities of light wave,it can simultaneously control continuous amplitude and binary phase.By carefully optimizing the orientations of nanorods,a multifunctional metasurface can be designed to display a near-field grayscale pattern and far-field 3D images simultaneously.Numerical results by a full-wave simulation validate the good performance of the proposed design.In addition,the proposed multifunctional metasurfaces have been verified that it has a broadband performance.2.Liquid crystal(LC)has the fluidity of liquid and anisotropy of the crystal.Through relatively simple design and processing,it can realize the flexibly manipulation of the amplitude,polarization,phase of light waves.In this paper,the defect of a single function of traditional Liquid crystal devices is overcame,and dualchannel independent imaging is realized without increasing the complexity of design and manufacturing.Experimental results show that the proposed devices have the same performance as expected.In addition,the devices designed in this paper can image with excellent wide bandwidth in the visible range,which greatly reduce imaging limitation.
