In 1754,Swedish botanist Linnaeus established the genus Impatiens L.,belonging to Balsaminaceae. Most species have extremely stringent environmental requirements and typically thrive in high precipitation or humidity areas.Guizhou Province has a warm and humid climate,a subtropical humid monsoon climate,a typical karst landform, and abundant resources of the genus Impatiens L.However, due to the blurring of the boundaries, the early relevant research based on specimens, and the relative lack of investigation and research, the species and distribution in Guizhou are unclear, and some species have taxonomic problems, including inaccurate descriptions of characteristics, unqualified publication, synonyms, and an unknown type locality.A taxonomic revision of Impatiens in Guizhou was conducted, based on comprehensive literature information, extensive field research, and an examination of numerous specimens. The main contents consist of the processing of names and facts, the designation of lectotypes, supplementary descriptions, and other taxonomic revisions. In addition, the species list was confirmed, and the morphological characteristics of leaves, inflorescences, flowers, capsules and their classification value were described in detail,as were the distribution, habitat, specimens examination, and the classification key for each species. The main results are provided below.(1)The research results on the variation of the key morphological traits of Impatiens in Guizhou indicate that the morphological traits of the the shape of margin teeth of leaves, bracts, lower sepal, spur, dorsal petal and lateral united petals, anther, fruits and seeds, the number of lateral veins of leaves, carpus, the type of inflorescence, the number and shape of sepals are generally relatively stable and can be used as vital taxonomic characteristics.(2)There were nine synonymous records.Impatiens leveillei Hook.f.was reduced to the synonymy of the I.arguta Hook.f.& Thomson;we clarified the identity issue of I.lepida Hook.f.,reducing it to the synonymys of the I.oxyanthera Hook.f.with I.piufanensis Hook.f.;I.fanjingshanica Y.L.Chen was reduced to the synonymy of the I.commelinoides Hand.-Mazz.;I.reptans Hook.f.,I.crassiloba Hook.f.,I.ganpiuana Hook.f.,I.atherosepala Hook.f.,and I.rhombifolia Y.Q.Lu & Y.L.Chen was reduced to the synonymys of the I.procumbens Franch.;I.martinii Hook.f.was reduced to the synonymy of the I.sigmoidea.Finally,we clarified the confusion between I.chishuiensis Y.X.Xiong and I.spathulata Y.X.Xiong,and revised the characters of I.cyanantha Hook.f..(3)A new species,Impatiens cavaleriei X.X.Bai&R.X.Huang,was described. In addition, two newly recorded species,I.suni S.H.Huang and I.lucorum Hook.f were discovered. Moreover,we rediscovered I.sigmoidea Hook.f.and clarified the wrong records of I.dolichoceras E.Pritz.and I.dolichoceras E.Pritz.(4)Ten species,Impatiens loulanensis Hook.f.,I.procumbens,I.reptans,I.lecomtei Hook.f.,I.sigmoidea,I.martinii,I.lasiophyton Hook.f.,I.rubro-striata Hook.f.,I.lucorum and I.mairei H.Lév.were lectotypified.(5)overall,54 species(including infraspecific taxa, the same below)were recognized in Guizhou,44 species of which belonged to subgen.Impatiens, and 10 species to subgen.Clavicarpa.We have now identified 48 species. The morphological characteristics were described with the original literature and field observation results. In this section, the geographical distribution, color photographs and a key are provided here.
