As one of the important ways to shape the body and mind of the people, food has long received great attention from the Japanese government.Since the promulgation of the Basic Law on Food Education in 2005,Japan’s focus on daily family diet has developed from housekeeping and nutrition to social public services and education. The phenomenon of children eating alone is mentioned as a harbinger of family collapse. Therefore, through the analysis of the Japanese "Fujin No Tomo" magazine, this paper explores the norms of home cooking that exist in the dietary life of modern Japanese families, and the process of internalizing normative consciousness among readers. The purpose of this paper is to clarify the causes of family survival concerns caused by solitary food phenomenon, and how it formed in the historical context.By introducing the analytical concept of food anthropology, this paper outlines the changes in the dietary life of urban households in Japan after the modern era.First, the intervention of public power in daily eating life makes it form that the cook is the mother;child-centered;valuing nutrition and dietary changes;handmade by mother;eating together.Five norms for family cooking.Second, readers are receptive to the information conveyed by the magazine. After learning about home cooking through the magazine, female readers, who are recipients of information, submitted articles to show the "housewife’s" recognition of the norms and their efforts to maintain them.Third,at present,Japan’s food education discourse emphasizes dietary awareness based on family dietary norms.Solitary eating implies the dissolution of family dietary norms, thus raising fears of family breakdown.Behind it is the "ideal meal" formed in the historical context, which is considered to be the transmission and maintenance of "love" in a happy family.
