China’s economy has entered a high-quality development,during which the whole society needs to further enhance its innovation capacity and economic vitality.The digital economy can inject enough vitality into this stage to promote innovation and development more efficiently in the course of social operation.Green innovation is in line with the new development philosophy and is a key measure for enterprises to solve development problems.In addition,enterprises need to combine their own characteristics in the digital economy boom,carry out green innovation,procurement,production and so on.First of all,this paper combs literature of digital economy,green innovation and resource slack.In addition,the digital economy’s index system can be built in three dimensions: provincial digital development base,digital development scale and digital finance.Further,nine secondary indexes were selected and calculated by entropy weight method.After calculating the digital economic indicators of each province for the period 2013-2019,this paper makes comparative analysis to find the differences between provinces and the trends of the single province over the years.Secondly,this paper uses A-share manufacturing enterprises in China from2013 to 2019 as sample and collects indicators of the provincial digital economy.Then,this paper explores how digital economy influences green innovation.Additionally,the mediating role of resource slack is validated using stepwise regression and Bootstrap.The study found that digital economy promotes resource sharing among enterprises.Moreover,as consumer environmental awareness grows,enterprises will be inclined to invest in green innovation in order to meet consumers’ needs.In addition,resource slack plays a role in the digital economy to promote green innovation,mainly because enterprises can accurately and quickly identify resource slack in enterprises through the Internet,big data and other technologies,and judge their further use,so as to integrate and re-create available resources,which can be further converted into green innovation.Thirdly,to test the robustness of the results,this paper selects green innovation level and resource slack’s proxy variables respectively for further test.Finally,the calculated level of development of digital economy in each province and the empirical results will help the government to understand the level of development of digital economy in each province.It will also encourage enterprises to take full advantage of digital economy and improve green innovation ability to achieve sustainable development.
