Investigation And Research On Livestock Manure Treatment Behavior Of Rural Farmers In Changji Prefecture

With the booming development of China’s livestock and poultry farming industry farming scale is expanding,the environmental pollution caused by the problem is also increasingly prominent.In the process of breeding a large number of manure,not only on the soil,water bodies,air pollution of varying degrees also on the health of humans and animals cause safety risks.The state has introduced a series of laws and regulations on the prevention and control of livestock and poultry manure in response to this situation,and called on all places to actively deal with manure pollution and improve the living environment.As an important livestock breeding area in Xinjiang,Changji Prefecture has achieved rapid development in livestock breeding in recent years,and its scale is huge and dominant in the whole territory.In this context,scientific and effective livestock and poultry manure treatment is very important to promote the sustainable development of livestock and poultry farming in Changji Prefecture and the construction of a beautiful countryside.Farmers are the main participants of manure treatment in livestock and poultry farming,and their behavioral approaches to livestock and poultry manure treatment are highly correlated with the effectiveness of governmental manure pollution control.Therefore,this study takes rural livestock and poultry farmers in Changji Prefecture as the survey object,deeply investigates the behavior of livestock and poultry manure treatment of farmers in the region,analyzes the problems found in the survey,and puts forward reasonable countermeasures and suggestions,in order to provide some theoretical basis and effective policy reference for habitat environment management and the construction of harmonious countryside in Changji Prefecture.Based on the macro statistical data from 2015 to 2020,this thesis introduces the development profile of animal husbandry and poultry industry in Changji Prefecture,measures the amount of livestock and poultry farming manure generated in Changji Prefecture in 2020,and also outlines the results obtained by Changji Prefecture in exploring the road of livestock and poultry manure management in recent years.Through field research on livestock and poultry manure treatment behavior of rural farmers in Changji Prefecture,234 valid questionnaires were obtained and the data obtained were analyzed and organized to explore the problems of their manure treatment.Further,four types of variables,namely,personal characteristics of farmers,production and operation characteristics,psychological and cognitive characteristics and government measures,were selected to analyze the deep-seated influencing factors of farmers’ livestock and poultry manure disposal behaviors by constructing a binary logistic model.The results show that(1)livestock and poultry manure in Changji Prefecture has a huge emission volume and there is a hidden danger of environmental pollution;(2)the current livestock and poultry manure disposal of rural farmers in Changji Prefecture mainly consists of four behavioral methods: direct disposal,composting and returning to the field,selling and giving away,among which composting and returning to the field is the main one;(3)there are old concepts of manure disposal and insufficient awareness of environmental protection among farmers;the treatment method of livestock and poultry manure is simple and there is a lack of corresponding treatment equipment;the manure disposal technology is weak and the treatment capacity needs to be improved.The regression model found that the education level of farmers,the proportion of farming income,and the frequency of getting inspection from the supervisory department have a significant positive influence on the farmers’ behavior of composting and returning to the field,selling and giving away,which means that these factors can motivate farmers to carry out harmless manure treatment.The cost of livestock manure treatment has a significant negative influence on the farmers’ behavior of making environmentally sound livestock manure treatment.According to the problems found in the survey,the following countermeasures are proposed: increase the investment in education to improve the labor quality of farmers;improve the publicity to stimulate the sense of ownership of farmers;strengthen the technical training to improve the ability of farmers in manure treatment;increase the policy support and improve the relevant subsidies;improve the regulatory mechanism and formulate the corresponding reward and punishment system.
