Research On Xiamen Modern Garden Design Methods Based On Space Syntax Analysis

With the accelerated development of the global industrialization process,the problem of globalization has been triggered.Environmental problems have become increasingly prominent.As an important part of the urban ecological system,garden landscape plays a vital role in solving urban environmental problems and pleasing people’ s physical and mental health.However,functionalism swept the world dominating the design of urban planning,architectural design,and public landscape.The uniformity of urban landscapes after World War Ⅱ,which made the local culture and regional characteristics not fully reflected.Historically,my country’s traditional gardens have reached a high level of art.But the pattern of traditional private gardens is no longer suitable for parks to meet the necessary needs of crowd activities and gatherings at present.Review the historical nodes of the transition from traditional gardens to modern public gardens,many garden spaces continued the gardening techniques of traditional gardens,combined with Western landscape design methods during the transition period of modern gardens.Studied modern gardens in the transition period,which helps us to grasp the relationship between tradition and contemporary,so as to easier to reflect on practicereflect on practices.As a coastal city in modern times,Xiamen accepted foreign culture earlier.Western culture and traditional culture collide and merge here,creating a unique humanistic scene.Moreover,Xiamen has a superior geographical location and unique mountain and sea landscape.At the node of modern garden transformation,there are also rich garden works.On the basis of integrating Chinese traditional garden culture with western garden culture,Xiamen Modern Garden integrates mountain and sea landscape into the design of garden space in combination with its own natural conditions.This paper studies the design methods of Xiamen modern garden space in the transformation period of garden nature,so as to grasp the rules,summarize the design strategies and explore the enlightenment to the current practice.This paper is divided into three steps;At first step,I will qualitative analysis of Xiamen Modern Garden prominent characteristics,design methods,and causes on the basis of literature research and historical background.At second step,I will analyze two typical cases of Xiamen Modern Garden transformation period by quantitative method,and summarize their design methods.At third step,I will summarize the design methods,and explores the enlightenment significance for practice through the comparative study of two typical cases.The results show that:in the process of Xiamen’s modern transformation from private garden to park,the design techniques have changed due to the intervention of western design concepts and techniques,showing the phenomenon that foreign culture gradually takes the lead while local culture inheritance takes the second place under the need of modern park applicability.In addition,Xiamen modern gardens make full use of the natural advantages,and combine the basic function of meeting people’s enjoyment with local culture and regional culture.To a certain extent,it can provide guidance for the construction of modern urban parks in Xiamen.
