| The situation of population ageing in China is serious. As an important spatial carrier for human daily activities, the study of the spatial and environmental ageing of cities has gradually become the focus of research in the field of urban and rural planning. In Southwest China, the built environment of small and medium-sized central areas is poor, and there are problems such as relatively slow renewal and renovation, poor consideration of ageing needs, and insufficient introduction of social capital, which make it difficult to cope with the impact of the silver-hair wave. Therefore, this thesis selects the downtown area of Qujing in Yunnan Province as the object of study.By establishing an evaluation index system for the ageing-friendliness of the downtown area,we analyse and summarise the current shortcomings of its ageing-friendliness,and from the perspective of ageing-friendliness,we objectively propose strategies to improve the ageingfriendliness of the downtown area of Qujing in the chronological order of urgent renovation,medium-term improvement and long-term prospect.Firstly, through a review of domestic and international experience in the construction of age-friendly cities and theoretical research on ageing suitability evaluation and renovation, relevant indicators suitable for the assessment of ageing suitability in the central district are selected.Based on the spatial characteristics of the central district, the method of ageing suitability evaluation is selected, and the index system of ageing suitability evaluation in the central district is subdivided through field research, and two sets of evaluation systems are constructed for the overall evaluation of ageing suitability in the central district of Qujing and the evaluation of ageing suitability of the community environment in the central district.Secondly, this thesis evaluates the overall level of ageing in the central district of Qujing by using Arcmap software and field research. It is found that the overall level of ageing in the downtown area of Qujing is average, with an uneven layout of ageing facilities and a low number of facilities;the shortcomings of the motorised transport system are obvious. In terms of spatial coverage, the spatial distribution of various types of facilities in the downtown area of Qujing is relatively uneven, and the overall performance of facility coverage is poor.Except for the bus system and bus routes, which are relatively homogeneous in terms of coverage, primary medical facilities, leisure and entertainment facilities, and shopping facilities all have relatively obvious low-value areas in the northwest, northeast or southwest of the central district, with poor coverage of facilities;while public health facilities are mainly distributed along urban roads, they are poorly set up inside urban parks and squares, which are commonly used by the elderly, and are less convenient for them to use.Again, this thesis evaluates the level of age-friendly community environment in the central district from four levels: central district living environment,slow-moving transport system,barrier-free environment and community governance.Through field research and questionnaire interviews, the following results were obtained from the evaluation model: the level of elderlyfriendly community environment is poor and the quality of living environment is low;the slow transportation system is inefficient;the barrier-free environment needs to be improved;and there are obvious deficiencies in community management. Finally,we propose a strategy to improve the ageability of Qujing’s downtown area in the near, medium and long term: in the near term,we should make up for the shortcomings in ageability facilities, improve the accessibility level of the city and optimise the city’s age-friendly slow-moving transport system to improve the lack of ageability of the facilities and environment in the downtown area;in the medium term,we should focus on optimising the supply level of age-friendly facilities and improving the age-friendly living environment with more consideration for the needs of the elderly. In the long term,we should focus on improving the management level of ageing in the city by ensuring the organisation of activities for the elderly from ethnic minorities, social participation of the elderly, active participation in community governance and the introduction of social capital to help the elderly. This thesis takes the downtown area of Qujing as the research object, focusing on the needs of modern urban elderly people and how to create an age-friendly urban environment in view of the increasingly serious ageing situation in China, with a view to providing a reference for the renovation and improvement of age-friendly urban areas in small and medium-sized downtown areas in southwest China. |
