The precooling performance of cryogenic transportation pipeline has an important influence on the reliability and safety of cryogenic fluid transportation. In this paper, numerical calculation and experiment are used to study the precooling process of small cryogenic pipeline.Firstly,a simulation model of liquid nitrogen precooling cryogenic pipeline is established for calculation. The numerical analysis results are compared with those in literature to verify the effectiveness of the established model. Then, the temperature characteristics and influencing factors in precooling are discussed by using this model, including precooling flow rate, initial wall temperature and inlet fluid temperature.Based on the engineering requirements, the modeled annular pipe is simulated and analyzed, the optimal flow rate under different working conditions is discussed, the optimal cooling conditions are determined, the total amount of liquid nitrogen needed for cooling is discussed. An experimental platform was designed and built to analyze the liquid nitrogen flow boiling in the pipeline and the precooling process of the transportation pipeline. The analysis results can provide theoretical basis and reference for the heat and mass transfer of liquid nitrogen boiling flow and the practice of cryogenic pipeline precooling.
