During the development of Chinese classical gardens for thousands of years, their gardening ideas have been influenced by many schools of thought, among which the idea of immortals has played an important role in the origin and development of classical gardens The immortal thought has a huge and continuous influence on the gardening thought of Chinese classical gardens, and some ideas are even the main source of ideas for the construction of the whole or part of the garden. The close relationship between immortal thoughts and classical gardens has been studied by many scholars, including the influence of immortal thoughts on the landscape pattern of classical gardens.Taking "immortal thought" as the starting point, and then studying its influence on the connotation of classical garden space, there are two main reasons.First of all,the idea of immortals had a profound and extensive influence in ancient times,no matter the people, scholars and ru lers were influenced by it,and when these people became the masters of gardening, the ideas of immortals would infiltrate the classical gardens through their hands;Secondly, since the Qin and Han dynasties, with the development and improvement of immorta l thoughts, fairyland has gradually become the blueprint for the overall or partial landscaping of classical gardens. From overall planning to detailed decoration, the expression of immortal thoughts in classical gardens has gradually formed a complete sys tem. This paper studies the influence of immortal thoughts on classical garden space, including gardening concepts, planning and design techniques, garden architecture, title, decoration, etc.,in order to analyze the origin of classical garden space conno tation and immortal thoughts. The full text consists of six chapters. The first chapter, the introduction, discusses the research results of predecessors on immortal thoughts and classical gardens. The second and third chapters are the basic research, whic h sorts out the immortal thoughts and the development process of classical gardens, and analyzes and summarizes the evolution of the spatial connotation of classical gardens under the influence of immortal thoughts. The fourth chapter summarizes the four t ypical patterns of the overall spatial layout of classical gardens under the influence of immortal thoughts, namely the Kunlun pattern, the Penglai pattern, the heaven and earth pattern in the pot,and the unique cave pattern, and summarizes the characteristics of four typical models and their evolution process. The fifth chapter summarizes the influence of the immortal thought on the spatial connotation of classical garden architecture, and finds that the immortal thought has a great influence on the development of garden buildings such as terraces, buildings and complex roads, the construction of rockery caves, architectural titles, landscape poems, and detailed decorative patterns. The sixth chapter analyzes the unity of material and spirit of Chinese classical garden space under the idea of immortals, and summarizes the elements of gardening as the material carrier,it can not only give people a feeling of beauty and stimulate visitors’ associations with fairyland images, but also provide a good material environment for practitioners to help practitioners enter the transcendent realm of gods.Research on the implication of Chinese classical garden space based on the idea of immortals is not only conducive to in-depth analysis of the influence of immortal ideas on the ideas and design techniques of classical gardens,it can also provide inspiration and experience for contemporary architecture and garden design, and help designers create an ideal environment that can soothe the minds of contemporary people.
