In view of the large climate difference and summer cooling in China, and the consumption of fossil energy in the process of building use, appropriate passive cooling design strategies for buildings should be explored. With the increasing attention to photonic structures and the development of metamaterials, passive radiation cooling technology is gradually revived.Compared with traditional cooling methods, passive radiant cooling has obvious advantages. And under the current needs of carbon reduction, energy saving and comfort as the main goals,it has been newly understood and interpreted. This passive design based on the building climate also opens up a unique way of thinking for the development of the building itself. How to make full use of the climate for passive cooling of buildings has always been the direction of architectural climate design. With the increase of primary energy consumption, the research of passive radiation cooling technology has gradually become the focus. The use of local climatic conditions to make the building achieve a better passive radiation cooling effect has always been an open question, and whether the design of the building itself can be consistent with the passive radiation cooling effect of the building also needs to be solved. In this study, the external factors(climate factors)that play an important control role in passive radiative cooling of buildings are preliminarily explored, and the degree of passive radiation cooling availability in each city is studied to form an intuitive chart. Therefore,it provides a reference and basis for architects to decide whether passive radiation cooling technology is suitable for the area and what passive radiation cooling method to use in the scheme design stage. The main research contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, the principle of passive radiation cooling is analyzed in depth, and the factors that play a decisive role in passive radiation cooling are studied.Using the combination of energy plus software simulation and statistics,a comprehensive and systematic study of the availability of passive radiation cooling in buildings was carried out in a national climate zoning study.Statistical analysis yielded the availability of passive radiation cooling technology throughout the country.Secondly, typical buildings in hot summer and cold winter areas were selected for 72 h continuous passive radiation cooling thermal environment test, which verified the accuracy of the simulation results. Finally, taking the factors that have a significant impact on the passive radiation cooling effect as indicators, the climate design zoning of the passive radiation cooling potential of buildings in different climate zones in China is carried out,and finally an intuitive climate design zoning map is formed. After research,we obtained a zoning map of passive radiant cooling of buildings, which can give us a clearer and more intuitive picture of the situation across the country. That is,whether passive radiation cooling measures are applicable in all regions of the country and the availability of suitable passive radiation cooling designs. This study answers the questions of architects about passive radiation cooling technology, whether it is useful in different areas and how effective it is.It provides architects and policy makers with favorable theoretical measures when considering passive cooling at the building design stage. It is hoped that this study can play a certain role in promoting the research on the theory and practice of building low carbon, energy saving design and ecological building design in China.
