The climate is the main reason influencing the shape of the building to change. Fully considering the climate characteristics of different climate areas, and adapting the corresponding passive design method in the architectural design will play a positive role to the sustainable development and energy-conservation.This thesis proceeds from relation between building and climate, the typical meteorological year data of 188 urban climate observation stations were analysed, influencing passive solar building design. Weatherdata includes daily average dry ball temperature, daily total global radiation on a horizontal surface, daily diffuse radiation on a horizontal surface etc, which would be a preliminary database for climate classification for passive solar building. The steady-state heat transfer method was used in a passive solar building model, combining with statistically analyzes of measured meteorological data, the passive building climate divisionindex------the percentage of radiation was suggested ,and the feasibility of constracting passivesolar building in different region were analysed quantificationally.Using climatic building design principle, combining with the distributing regions of solar energy resources, the relationship between ourdoor climate in different areas and thermal comfort zone were analysed. The climate boundary conditions of the different climate division were established. The thermal efficiency of passive solar heating elements is main factor to influence the indoor thermal environment. In this thesis, on the basis of steady-state heat transfer theory, the three heating elements thermal efficiency curves, most in use in passive solar design, were analysed. And combining with the weather data of monthly average global radiation intencity, an optimizing structure adapting to different climate division were suggested. Finally, for more intuitionistic represent the result of climate division and for architect useconveniently, the visualization results were set up according with the analysis software of the geographical information system (GIS) in this thesis. Taking into account of our country's clilmate characteristics, diffenent climate division optimum design principle were proposed for passive solar building by utilized climate division index and the analysis result of thermal efficiency curves of heating elements in this thesis.
