As market competition becomes more and more intense,the demand for innovation in the field of collaborative design is becoming more and more urgent.In order to improve design innovation,clarify the design process and provide intelligent support for designers,it is necessary to mine the design content and information in the collaborative design process,to help designers improve their control and understanding of the design process,realize design innovation of products and improve the design competitiveness of products.This paper conducted natural language processing technology to constructs design mental models with the designer as the cognitive subject based on the textual data contents such as team meeting records,design requirement analysis documents,and design concept design among the design process.The conceptual definition of design mental models in the collaborative design process,key aspects of its construction,and model elements are proposed.The quantitative construction method of the design mental models is realized and applied to promote the efficiency of the collaborative design process and improve product design creativity.The main work of this paper contains the following:(1)The collaborative design process model based on information content is proposed.The collaborative design process is divided into stages based on design information,and a collaborative design process hierarchy model with design-time sequence is constructed.Based on the design operation nodes,design product functions,and design solution results,the collaborative design process model of operation layer,function layer and solution layer are formed,which provides the basis for the construction of the design mental models.(2)The basic framework of the design mental model is proposed.Firstly,the cognitive models of users and designers in the design process are analyzed respectively.Secondly,based on design cognition,the concept of the design process mental model is proposed.Finally,based on the collaborative design process,we analyze the model framing elements of the design mental models,the key aspects of model construction,and form a basic representation and generation framework of the design mental models.(3)A quantitative characterization method of the design mental models is proposed.Based on the composition structure of the mental model,the design mental model is divided into two parts: the knowledge structure and the belief structure.A combination of the text-based probabilistic model Latent Dirichlet Allocation(LDA)and the textbased distributed representation model Word2 vec is used to mine and quantitatively characterize the key design information in the text data of the design process,and to realize the characterization of the knowledge hierarchy.The belief structure,on the other hand,is based on the semantic analysis of emotions in the design text to build an emotion lexicon,so as to realize the designer’s information metric of the emotional intensity of the design concept.(4)Quantification and application of the design mental models.Construct knowledge structure and belief structure correlations,and fuse them to form a complete quantitative representation of the design mental models.The design solution is evaluated based on information axioms to obtain the optimal design solution based on the design mental models.Finally,an application validation of this study is carried out with an actual design project example.
