The relationship between culture and tourism industry has become increasingly close in recent years.At the same time,publicity and promotion of tourist attractions and the quality of functional services of tourist attractions have also been improved greatly owing to the widespread popularity of the Internet in China.Carrying out temporal and spatial characteristic analysis for cultural tourism attractions based on the Baidu Index is conducive to achieving efficient allocation of resources,keeping a dynamic balance between marketing and construction of tourist attractions and as well as ensuring the best quality service for every tourist.On the basis of Baidu Index,this paper adopts tools such as Python,Spss and Excel to collect,count and summarize the Internet popularity of41 tourist attractions in Hunan Province from January 1st,2016 to December 31 st,2020.Using literature analysis method,mathematical statistics method,GIS spatial analysis method and other research methods,the spatial and temporal distribution differences of tourist attractions is concluded by analyzing time distribution characteristics,which is researched from three perspectives: inter-annually,monthly and holidays,and at the same time analyzing spatial distribution characteristics and travel preferences of network followers in different regions according to the Baidu Index search volume of tourist attractions of Hunan Province.Time distribution characteristics of Internet popularity for tourist attractions in Hunan Province: From an inter-annual perspective: Affected by the COVID pandemic,in 2020,except for Internet-populated tourist attractions,the Internet popularity of major types of tourist attractions has declined to varying degrees.The popularity of the red cultural tourist attractions shows little influence.The Internet popularity of modern and natural tourist attractions has been decreasing year by year,while the popularity of folk cultural tourist attractions and cultural tourist attractions of historical site has increased to a certain extent before COVID pandemic.From a monthly perspective: During the year,April to May,July to August and October are peak tourist seasons,and December to February of the following year are low seasons,and the remaining months are flat seasons.This distribution trend is basically consistent with China’s holiday system and climate characteristics.From the perspective of holidays,the enthusiasm for travel is the highest on the first day of the holiday.The peak of Internet popularity can usually maintain in the first half period of the holiday.The popularity of the first three days of the Labor Day holiday and National Day holiday is higher than that of the three days after the holiday,while the popularity before the Spring Festival is lower than that after the holiday,reflecting that the Spring Festival tourism market still has great potential for development.The spatial distribution characteristics of the Internet popularity for tourist attractions in Hunan Province: Central and Southern China and Eastern China have the highest Internet attention to the tourist attentions in Hunan Province.Hunan,Guangdong,Beijing,Hubei,Jiangsu,Zhejiang and Jiangxi are the top seven provinces that pay the most attention to the tourist attractions of Hunan Province.Cultural tourist attractions of historical site are most attractive for tourists from other provinces,especially in Beijing,Hubei,Jiangsu,Zhejiang,Shanghai and other provinces and cities.For tourists from Hunan Province,they tend to enjoy more leisure and modern cultural tourist attractions,which are suitable for entertainment and relaxation.In terms of the type of tourist attractions,AAAAA level tourist attractions such as Mountain Yuelu +Orange Isle,Wulingyuan + Mountain Tianmen,Mountain Heng and Yueyang Tower + Junshan Island are very popular among tourists from Hunan as well as tourists from other Provinces.And tourist attractions such as Changsha Underwater World + Changsha Window of the World and Chayan Yuese(a very local popular milktea shop in Hunan)have attracted the attention of many tourists who are curious and early adopters.Main influencing factors: “Climate comfort” and “tourist leisure time” are two key influencing factors for the time distribution characteristics of the Internet popularity for tourist attractions in Hunan Province.The per capita disposable income,the proportion of service industry,the Internet penetration rate,and the spatial distance all have impact on the spatial distribution of Internet popularity for tourist attractions in Hunan Province.At the same time,tourist attractions popularity will also have a considerable influence on the spatial distribution characteristics of travel preferences of tourists.While the ticket price will not affect the Internet popularity for tourist attractions too much.Suggestions based on the research results: Scientifically plan passenger flow to increase demand in the off-season;price tickets reasonably to coordinate fiscal revenue;and promote marketing with hotspots to put publicity precisely so as to promote the high-quality development of tourism industry,enrich the marketing strategies and publicity ideas of tourist attractions and also help to achieve the rapid recovery of the tourism market after the COVID pandemic.
