Commercial banks are the indispensable backbone of China’s financial system. As the largest financial institution in the financial system, commercial banks can effectively promote the adjustment and upgrading of industrial structure by reasonable capital allocation and financing. With the intensification of the competitiveness of commercial banks at home and abroad,it is urgent to improve the competitiveness of commercial banks at home and abroad. After reading a lot of literature,it is found that the traditional DEA model can not meet the business model of commercial banks, which can be clearly divided into financing stage and profit-making stage. On the basis of previous studies, combined with the operating characteristics of commercial banks, this paper constructs a Two-stage DEA model based on shared input correlation, considers the exclusive input of the two stages, and applies it to the operating system of commercial banks,so that the model is more in line with the actual operating situation of commercial banks.Firstly, this paper systematically analyzes the basic concepts of efficiency and bank operating efficiency, and then introduces the relevant methods and models to calculate the operating efficiency of commercial banks.Secondly,19 commercial banks listed in Shanghai and Shenzhen from 2011 to 2020 are selected as samples to describe and analyze the development status of the sample commercial banks from four aspects: commercial bank scale, profitability, innovation and asset quality. In this context,a Two-stage DEA model of shared input correlation is constructed to calculate the overall efficiency and sub stage efficiency of sample commercial banks. In the empirical process, fixed assets and operating expenses are selected as the shared input of the two stages, interest expenses are the exclusive input of the first stage, commission and handling fee expenses are the exclusive input of the second stage, bank deposits are the intermediate output, but also as the input of the second stage, and operating income and net profit are the final output. The empirical results show that the overall efficiency of the banking industry and the efficiency of the first stage both show a downward trend, and the efficiency of the second stage shows an upward trend. From the perspective of bank types, urban commercial banks perform prominently in the overall stage and the second stage, and state-owned banks perform better in the first stage. Then, the influencing factors are selected from seven perspectives:internal asset scale, profitability, stability, asset allocation, innovation ability, stability and support for environmental protection. The Tobit model is constructed to make regression analysis on the influencing factors of the overall and phased efficiency of China’s commercial banks. The empirical results show that: in terms of the overall efficiency of commercial banks, the return on total assets and net assets have a significant positive impact on it,while the non-performing loan rate and non interest income are on the contrary; In the first stage efficiency, the deposit loan ratio and non interest income have a significant negative impact on it,while the total assets are on the contrary; In the second stage efficiency, the return on net assets, the proportion of non interest income and green credit ratio have a significant positive impact on it,while the total assets are on the contrary. Finally, according to the empirical results, this paper puts forward policy suggestions to improve the operating efficiency of China’s commercial banks from the perspective of commercial banks and financial supervision. |
