| As an important support for serving the real economy,the healthy development of the banking industry is related to the construction of China’s new development pattern,the presumption of the domestic and international double cycle model,and plays an important role in the high-quality development of China’s economy.Under the background of uncertain international situation,increasing downward pressure on the global economy and changing domestic economic development environment,how domestic commercial banks solve the existing problems of banks and improve their operational efficiency and competitiveness under the new development pattern has become an urgent problem for commercial banks to solve.In view of the above situation,the author tries to build a more reasonable evaluation system for the operating efficiency of commercial banks,deeply analyze the operating efficiency of China’s commercial banks,and on this basis,consider the future development direction of China’s listed commercial banks,propose corresponding improvement measures,hoping to provide reference for China’s commercial banks to better adapt to the changes in the new development pattern and serve the development of social economy.Based on the actual situation of China’s listed commercial banks,this paper measures the operating efficiency of 42 listed commercial banks in China from 2015 to 2021 through a three-stage DEA model.On this basis,it builds a Tobit model to analyze the micro influencing factors that affect the operating efficiency of China’s listed commercial banks,and puts forward suggestions for improving the operating efficiency of China’s listed commercial banks.Through empirical research,this paper mainly draws the following conclusions:1.In the first stage,the operating efficiency of China’s listed commercial banks is generally low and fluctuates greatly.Whether from the perspective of average operating efficiency value or the proportion of banks with operating efficiency value of 1,state-owned commercial banks are the highest,joint-stock commercial banks are the second,urban commercial banks are the third,and rural commercial banks are the last,and state-owned commercial banks are more resistant.2.In the second stage,the types of banks and the total number of institutions had a certain negative impact on the operation of commercial banks,and the GDP growth rate had a positive impact on their operation.Among them,the positive impact of GDP growth rate is far higher than the negative impact of bank types and total number of institutions.3.In the third stage,the operating efficiency of China’s listed commercial banks is generally low.The conclusion is the same as that in the first stage,whether from the perspective of the average operating efficiency value or the proportion of the number of banks with an operating efficiency value of 1.4.Compared with the third stage,the operating efficiency of all types of banks in the third stage is significantly lower than that in the first stage;From the perspective of the proportion of the number of banks with an operating efficiency value of 1,the proportion of state-owned banks and joint-stock banks is large,the proportion of urban commercial banks is significantly reduced,and the proportion of rural commercial banks is the least.5.Tobit regression results show that at this stage,the scale,innovation,profitability and development ability of listed commercial banks in China are significant factors that affect their operating efficiency,and they all have a positive relationship with operating efficiency.Based on the above empirical results and analysis,the paper finally proposes specific measures to improve the operating efficiency of listed commercial banks in China:1.The scale should be expanded reasonably to improve service efficiency.2.Pay attention to intermediate business income and enhance market competitiveness.3.Digital transformation and upgrading to improve sustainable profitability.4.Improve enterprise development ability from multiple perspectives. |
